In pseudo-medieval Tol Barad, shark jump YOU!
Queues on Elune have been much shorter for DPS lately. I’ve been playing in the wee hours of the morning the last couple of weeks, and since the patch, I’ve gotten runs in the new dungeons on my mage in under 5 minutes. Also been seeing less than 10 minute queues in WotLK dungeons on my hunter alt.
Speaking of the new dungeons, is there a dps buff or something in those? I did the second in the series and was pulling 20K dps. I’ve never come remotely close to that before…usually 12K if the moon and stars aligned right and I have minimal lag. I did upgrade my weapon to the Season 10 pvp staff, which added around 300-400 spell power, and looted new gloves from the first dungeon that put me over the hit cap finally, but still only have about ilvl 366 or so…I saw a couple of arcane blast crits over 100K. Sweet!
I learned a harsh, but amusing lesson on Sunday.
We were running Heroic Shadowfang Keep, and I was playing my hunter. We were doing well, a good group, but wiped on the final boss - the healer suffered a lag spike and couldn’t get out of the way of the pistol barrage.
Oh well, no big deal, we all rezzed, returned, and healed up. The tank (a troll druid) asked if everyone was ready, and pulled the boss.
I sent in my pet, and hit my hotkey for my first shot.
“You must have a ranged weapon equipped” appears on the screen. Only then do I notice that all my ranged attacks on the hotbars are greyed out. Quickly I open my character portrait, and my bow’s in the ranged weapon slot. I hover the mouse pointer over it, and see that it says “Durability: 0 of 80”.
Only then do I notice the tiny little red bow icon sitting in the upper right corner of my monitor.
Oh crap, I think to myself. Nothing for it but for me to run in and start flailing on the boss with my polearm, while frantically typing an explanation in the party chat.
Fortunately we were able to take him down, but I felt really silly afterwards. Don’t know quite how the durability got so low – nothing else I had equipped was anywhere close to 0.

That reminds me of the one time I tried (unintentionally) healing heroic SFK in my dps gear. I couldn’t figure out why I ran out of mana after three of four heals! WTF! oh… :smack:
And this, my friends, is why I always carry my previous ranged weapon with me. It’s worth the bag slot.
I’m pretty sure there is, I was doing some wicked awesome DPS during the chillin’ with Illidan part in WoE, but by the time we got to Mannoroth my DPS dropped to normal levels.
Hunter’s ranged weapons always suffered durability damage from abilities. Back in Wrath, Volley used to make bows break very quickly.
And yes, in Well of Eternity, while following Illidan you get a buff that increase your damage by 50% and crit rate by 100%.
There is definitely a buff when working with Illidan, and for some parts of the assault on the well immediately after Azshara.
I’m feelin’ your pain, bro.
My first Kel’thuzad kill was in a run when I got the raid invite late (fill-in, I guess) and didn’t have enough ammo. (Back in the day when a gun or bow needed ammo).
I actually ran out of bullets 15 seconds into the pull. I actually had to melee to contribute, and hunter melee is epically bad. Especially for a Marksman. Sigh.
We still won, but I think my pet did better damage than I did.
Yeah, on my hunter who was just barely geared enough to queue, I finished the Mannoroth encounter at something like 112k DPS.
For the other fights there are some buffs as well, including the time-loop on Murozond (which is a bit more obvious I guess) and the stacking totem buff when working with Thrall against that rogue-type boss.
And yes, broken bows and “You are out of ammo” (RIP) were the bane of my early WoW days. A backup weapon is always a good idea.
Woot! My GL got his Legendary last night! Fun event in the middle of Org. And apparently people still don’t know what’s going on, he said he kept getting tells asking about how to get the staff. We actually had to run the event 3 times since he had transmogrified the staff and that bugs the quest out. And now I’m on the Seething Cinder quest. Only 800 cinders to go
What’s worse is, due to understandable personal reasons, the GL will no longer be raiding FL anymore. Only DS. I hope the FL raid doesn’t fall apart. Especially since the current raid group doesn’t need anything from there except the staffs.
Anyone know which vendor sells propane tanks for those flames? I believe they’re startin’ to sputter! ;)![]()
Thanks to my guild bros for gettin’ me there!

Well, I got three pieces from LFR last night, including my DPS shoulders. Add in the fact we’re likely to get enough people to do both DS and FL when we merge with another guild (actually, elements of my former guild, except this time the people in charge are different) and everything is coming up Zeriel.
Now if only I could find a reasonable time slot this week for arena.
Heroic Morchok down! And wow, was that fight a lot easier than I expected it to be. We three-shotted it…would have probably one-shotted it except that the derpy tank (that would be me) wasn’t grokking the fact that I had to move the boss near the crystal even when he wasn’t about to stomp, because the big stone dummy don’t move so fast.
Y’all know that “W” Blizz gave us as an anniversary gift?
Well, it’s faded out on my action bar, I can’t use it anymore (time limit for its use, I reckon), but I can’t make it go away either. I looked in my spell book, but I don’t see it there. Just on my action bar.
Thanks

PS: Sure has been quiet in here lately. Maybe you’re all out partying, and that’s why no one’s congratulated Da Wolk’ on making Champ! ;))
Yup, it was only good during the 7th Anniversary thing, and then it faded away. You should be able to just drag it off your action bar, or if that doesn’t work just drop something else on top of it to replace it.
… for the Phantom Fish Daily, I just barely made it through without having to decide if I wanted to join the Wintergrasp battle.
There were 2:30 left when I crossed the zone, but I made it without either accepting or declining the battle offer. As you all know, declining causes the game to zap you to where you don’t want to be during the battle (it was Horde controlled, of course) and there you are for the durtation - 26 minutes or less, depending.
If you’re on a Taxi-Gryph, I don’t think the game should be configured to do that kinda shit. You’re left alone in other conflict areas (such as on the way to Dalaran), why Not Wintergrasp?
Thanks

Crap. That was supposed to go into the WoW thread. Sorry!
Q
It’s kind of surreal as a stand alone thread, especially for those of us who don’t play Warcraft.
Sounds like it oughta be a song or one of those Hope/Crosby movies, don’t it? :)

Though I am left curious once again as to how my character name is associated with my regular e-mail address, since I don’t use that address as my WoW/Battle.net login. Also, I’ve never bought anything through eBay.
