I finished my Dragonwrath tonight! Such a relief that’s over with. Our guild is really bad at the Ragnaros fight which made this evening all the more frustrating.
A little embarrasing, though; it seems as of a recent patch you can’t complete the quest of doing the ceremony in Stormwind if you’re still in your raid group, so I had to do the staff ceremony twice. Made for lots of nice screenshots, though.
Don’t worry, Quasi. There should be one bar with tiny numbers in the lower right-hand corner…those keys are mapped to the number row at the top of your keyboard (not the numberPAD on the side) by default.
If you run into this in the future, get a guild group of 4-5 people to queue and start defending your side’s towers/graveyards after the initial Galvangar kill. I’ve racked up literally 100+ honorable kills in a single Alterac that way.
Alas, this toon is in my one-man vanity guild, “Order of The Rik”.
I did get one rather amusing HK in the last AV I ran. I had died and after resurrecting I was galloping down the road when I saw a Horde warrior ride into another of our graveyards with a bunch of dwarf NPCs chasing him. I went after him, and watched him go up the hill behind the graveyard and park himself behind a tree. So I got close to him and cast Repentance to put him to sleep, then climbed up next to him and started attacking. He must have gone AFK after he hid behind the tree, because he did nothing at all to defend himself ![]()
I shouldn’t complain too much about all the AVs though. At least I didn’t keep getting Isle of Conquest, a BG I hate only slightly less than I hate Strand of the Ancients. I prefer the “capture the flag” BGs, Twin Peaks being my favorite, though I also enjoy AB and Battle for Gilneas. I used to enjoy Wintergrasp, but I’ve completely given up on Tol Barad. I’ve never gotten in there at the beginning - I’ve always been subbed in for somebody that dropped. And every time, by the time I get there, the entire Horde team is camped out around the flag (or whatever TB has) in one of the objective locations, making trying to capture it a fruitless venture. I’m really hoping that the next BG of this type they make doesn’t suffer from the mistakes they made designing TB.
Huh…AV, Isle of Conquest, and Strand of the Ancients are my favorite BGs. We seem to win those at least 40% of the time, or close to it in the 85 bracket.
I hate WSG and Twin Peaks…those things always seem to end up in a stalemate that lasts the entire timer, or a short and brutal Horde pwns Allies yet again.
Actually did WG twice in the last few days on the hunter I’m leveling. No hordies showed up. Had to farm the horde guards long enough to get promoted to tank driver, then kill the towers and fish until timer expired.
Main thing I dislike about SotA is that, although I understand the objective, the whole thing is always over so quickly I never actually get to do anything. Isle of Conquest … I’d like it better if it wasn’t so darned spread out. Not to mention the chat is always a steady stream of one or two guys heaping abuse on whoever is driving the siege vehicles.
I like the smaller maps, largely because most of the other players are close enough that I get a fairly steady streak of HKs and HPs no matter where I am or what I’m doing. Plus actually managing to capture the flag in WSG or TP is personally satisfying when I accomplish it, or even when I directly contribute to helping a teammate make the capture (even if that contribution means my own death but before dying I keep the enemy occupied long enough for my teammate to make the cap).
WSG…<grrrrrooooooaaaaannnnnnnn>
I wanted to give a shout-out “THANK” you to my “little sis” (whom I miss on here) SFG for the neat Christmas sweater she gave Wolkie. It shows on the upper arms with the tabard on, but I think it looks cool like that!
Thanks, Hon! Come back when you can!

I stumbled into what turned out to be an unintentionally-hilarious PvP situation yesterday. Having decided that prot spec just isn’t fun for me, I’ve been converting my tauren paladin, Donoma, back to ret. Alas, she was in pretty much all tank gear when I made this decision, and there aren’t a whole lot of quests left for her to do to obtain DPS gear (I wish I’d decided to go back to ret before I did Thrall & Aggra’s cloak quest chain), so I’ve been obtaining PvP DPS gear for her.
So I dropped into Wintergrasp between battles for the easy 48 Honor Points from the weekly quests there. I was one Alliance Champion away from finishing the Slay Them All! quest and getting out of there, when I got jumped by a human paladin.
We proceeded to beat on each other, and beat on each other, and beat on each other, for a very long time. We’d beat each other down to the point that our Sacred Shields would activate (SS = automatic bubble that appears when we get below 30% health), heal ourselves up, and go back to beating on each other. He finally beat me when he popped his Baradin Footman’s Tags trinket and spawned a Tol Barad Footman to help him out.
I assumed that the only reason it took him so long to beat me was that I was still wearing a bunch of tank pieces. Here’s how I was geared:
But then I checked his Armory page, and discovered that he was equipped with an even worse mishmash of tank, DPS, and PvP gear than I was, with even more of it ungemmed/unenchanted:
Which just went to show how badly we both apparenty suck at PvP ![]()
Oh yes, my latest screenshot “comic”:
http://www.mister-rik.com/hosted/castoravus_sweater.jpg
I submitted it to WoW Insider’s “Around Azeroth” feature. We’ll see if they use it.
Funny! I hope they use it, Rik! That’s a cool sweater, isn’t it, and it has some major armor to it as well!
Q
Guys and ladies (I miss FH and SFG!!!), if I upgrade to Windows 7, will I have to spend days re-downloading the game?
Also, (Rik’s post above reminded me) WoW Insider’s “15 Minutes of Fame” is featuring me and Wolkie in their year-end review of what their subjects have been up to. I don’t know when it will be out, however.
Thanks
Q
Nah, it has no armor or any kind of stats.
Yep. You’re right, sorry, guys! :smack::o What I read was “If you replace this item…” and it showed all kinds of green stuff. So I’ve been fighting Wolkie without his chest plate for a few days now. Doesn’t seem to affect him any, however.
Guess I’d better put it back on him though!
Thanks, as always for setting me straight, Rik, and let me know when I can stop catching fathom eels for ya’. I’m stopping and fishing every time I see a school of em. Sometimes I catch junk, but all in all, I have a pretty good track record catchin’ em. Would a lure help?
Thanks
Q
Nope, you don’t need a lure for fishing in schools ![]()
So this pisses me off. Washington Post quotes a attributes the word “pwned” to World of Warcraft when it predates WOW by at least 10 years. What next? WOW invented elves?
Most embarrassing moment ever: ultraxion lfr, chest piece breaks really fast. Whoops, gaudy winter sweater!
Damuri, it’s the Washington post, mainstream media sucks for that sort of thing.
The WoW Insiderarticle on me and Wolkie is up. jayjay and Rik, you two especially need to take a look!
Thanks
Quasi
I’m reading this post and picturing this Penny Arcade… ![]()
