If you’re done buying the runes, you can always vend the Vrykul bones. They sell to any vendor for about 2 1/2 silvers each.
Certainly beats throwing them away. Considering they’re soulbound (Bind on Pickup), that’s your three options: buy runes with them (and then find a use for the runes); throw them away; or liquidate them like vendor trash.
I transmogged my Lava Bolt Crossbow into Bow of Bone and Sinew because I wanted my nelf to have a weapon that looked foresty. Oh, and I was getting sick of the goatse effect on that crossbow.
Hello again - another newb question.
When someone whispers to me, or I talk to someone in particular, the next I try to type anything in the text box it always defaults to their name. I can’t for the life of me figure out how to get the /name part to disappear. If I hit delete or esc, it does nothing. What am I doing wrong?
Your chat setting will always default to the last one, so if you did /w Arthas (or replied to a tell from Arthas) the next time you hit the chat window or press enter it will default to that again. It’ll do the same for /s /p /raid /bg /g /1 /2 , etc. It’s helpful for sending multiple messages to a person, group or chat channel.
You can make their name go away just by using one of the slash commands for a different type of chat channel.
Okay, I was in TB Sunday night fishing for Rik some fathom eels when all of a sudden, my line goes tight and snaps behind my back, and this female mage lol’s me.
Well, okay, very funny says I, but please don’t do that again, okay? So she does it again. This pissed me off, so I said “one more time and you go on report”. She replies, “Yay me”, and does it a third time.
So hell, I put in a ticket and told her “you’re on report”, whereupon this Calamity - something - can’t remember the last part of her name, sends me one of those orange messages telling me she just slapped Wolkie.
Okay, so today I got a message from a GM telling me the situation had been resolved, but that he couldn’t tell me HOW. Fine, just so long as it was resolved.
But how could this happen (the fishing line, I mean). I wasn’t in PVP, so we shouldn’t have interacted right?
Thanks
Quasi
But why would Wolkie need runes, gnoitall?
Thanks
Q
Note to Yeti: I’ll be in Alex for an hour or so.
Q
That is weird. I have no idea how that could have happened.
At level 85, those runes are pretty useless, especially since they only work in Icecrown.
Quasi, were you in Tol Barad, or Tol Barad Peninsula? When you take the portal from Stormwind, you are in Tol Barad Peninsula. When you cross the bridge there, you enter Tol Barad. It’s confusing, I know! If you had crossed the bridge, you were automatically entered into PvP.
I went looking for pets or anything else that could interrupt fishing, but I couldn’t find anything.
Well if he saw the mages “Yay me” then they had to be on the same faction and thus were not pvping and I don’t know how she could have interacted with him to mess up his fishing.
Well, the runes have three uses (two related):
[ol]
[li]Complete a quest for a chunk of XP and gold and 250 rep with Knights of the Ebon Blade[/li][li]On later turn ins for the repeatable version of the quest (blue quest mark instead of yellow), 10 rep points with same[/li][li]The runes themselves are pretty good 30-minute duration buffs while in Icecrown zone.[/li][/ol]
That latter is a consideration of your character is solo-questing in Icecrown and doesn’t overlevel the content. Going into an elite fight with 5% damage bonus, 5% damage-taken reduction, mana regeneration on crit, health regeneration on crit, and 15% increased run speed can be a big difference.
I haven’t played Icecrown since they nurfed the difficulty of the quests (patch 4.3?). I seem to recall patch notes specifically calling out that the formerly group quests (elite fights, etc.) are now soloable, so maybe the runes aren’t that useful.
In that case, 2 silver 50 copper per vrykul bone may be more appealing.
I apparently misspelled the name. It’s "Calamityred"
If by peninsula you mean where Problim walks, then no. I was fishing “waterwalking” on the river that leads to Wellson’s

Okay. I understand you can’t tell me anything further, but please at least allow me to tell you that I don’t mind having my hair changed to a mohawk, or having snowballs thrown, etc. because those are FUN things. What I don’t like, being mentally challenged (Alzheimer’s), is being repeatedly harrassed and even slapped by someone. How can that even be done (slapping)? Seems like that would be one of WoWs’ greatest concerns: violence via a video game against another player.I love playing WoW, but that was way over the line, and my policy is to ask the player not to harrass me further and if he or she does, I’ll send a report. But what THAT does is make me really feel bad about the game, and makes me wonder what’s next and keeps from going TO the game. (I play almost daily, for much of the day, it’s therapy for me and helps me keep my senses and cognitive memory as sharp as possible). There’s an article on me on joystiq, in their 15 and 16th Minutes of Fame articles which describes me dead on, and for the most part, I’ve enjoyed in-game discussions and the help I get with strategy. (It’s taken me 4 years to get to level 85, and many players have assisted me with gear and advice. Read the article, and , as they say, “get to know me”.)I play with only 2 others (and their alts) because they know me outside of WoW, but I solo the rest of the time, just for that reason. In a dungeon, because I can’t tank properly, I’ve had some choice comments thrown at me - so I don’t do THOSE. I also avoid grouping.I find it embarrassing to have to stop and explain my mental state, and the kids don’t believe me anyway, but I don’t deserve this. Thanks for your help.Bill (Wolkenlaufre)
The portal from SW? yeah, it landed me at base camp. But I didn’t “Cross” the bridge per se. I went into the water at the banks near the camp and rode toward Wellson’s. If I’m PVP’d if I cross that bridge, how come no one else has ever attacked me?
I don’t think you can slap members of the opposite faction, can you? Wouldn’t it just be interpreted as a “strange gesture?” I’m trying to think what she could have been doing to interrupt his fishing cast.
Oh yes: I haven’t looked this character up in the Armory… maybe y’all can make some sense of this?
Maybe there’s an NPC named “Calamity Red” and she rearranged the letters for her own name - making me think I misspelled the name.
The slap thing was written in orange. That’s a macro, right?
Thanks
Q
I don’t think Blizz is going to do anything about the slapping. I’m pretty sure that emote has been in since vanilla when I first started playing.
I used to emote a lot back in the day and when anyone would do a mean emote to me I would “/hug” them back at first and then “/fart” on them. Do they even have fart anymore?
Next time **Quasi **when someone is messing with you click on them and then type /fart in chat and Wolkie will perfume them with his derriere.
Correct.
If you click on a player and then type /slap then Wolkie will slap that character. I can’t search now but there are quite a few emotes like that such as /hug and /fart and /poke and a bunch more I can’t remember.
“/slap” is one of the “built-in” emotes, so that can be seen cross-faction. It’s only “custom” emotes, like “/me takes a flying frak at a rolling donut” that gets interpreted as “strange gestures” cross-faction.
Yeah. That’s the odd thing. FWIW, the only Calamityred on Alexstraza is a nelf hunter. According to the Armory, an extremely well-geared PvP one.
Anyway, since Wolkie is a Human, this can’t be PvP.
There aren’t that many friendly interrupts. And the ones that I can think of are not at all subtle. (Piccolo of Flaming Fire, Toy Train Set, etc.)
Hard-Packed Snowballs from Winter Veil changed a couple of years ago. They can only be thrown at opposite faction now, respecting PvP limitations and all. So that ain’t it.
Maybe there wasn’t any real interrupting going on? Is it possible that this Calamityred was just fishing in the same pools?
