New WoW General Discussion Thread 6/8/10

I found the scroll of resurrection!

The good news…I used it to invite cherry_pez back!
The bad news…only 1 scroll per day per account.

So, if someone in guild can invite Taursus (Jules Andre) back, then we can get two of our guildies back in one day!

Scroll sent. WoW site says the scrolls are sent in hourly batches.

Whooops, I sent one a couple of days ago to him but never came back to post here.

Just curious - I’ve never fully understood the ‘raid lockout’ concept.

If I sign up for an run one of the Looking For Raid groups (either “Siege of Wyrmrest Temple” or “Fall of Deathwing”, am I then locked out/saved to the 10-man non-LFR versions of the raid?

I queued up for an LFR Deathwing raid yesterday evening, but then remembered that we were hoping to run a 10-man Friday evening. Since I didn’t know if running the 25-man LFR would lock me out of the 10-man, I bailed from the queue.

LFR is separate from the regular/heroics. Let’s start with LFR, you can do it as many times as there are hours in the week, however you can only loot each boss once per week. Now onto regulars/heroics (both 10 and 25) Those 4 options share a lockout. (10reg, 25reg, 10her, 25her) and you can only see each boss once/lockout. So on Tuesday you do 10reg and kill Morchok. Then Thursday you get into a 25Heroic, but everyone gets pissed because they can’t kill Morchok, because you are already locked to it (or more likely, I think, you won’t be able to enter the instance)
So you should have done LFR for gear sake before our DS10 on Friday.

To add onto what was said: the lockout is tripped by the boss kill. So if all you do is kill trash, you won’t be locked.

Hey, Quasi, thought you’d like to see this, if you haven’t already:
Can playing WoW improve your brain power?

Is that Wolkie in the header pic? Looks like you made quite an impression on the WoW Insider crew.

Hey Info!

Thanks for the link. Lisa told me she was going to work up an article on this, which jayjay, brought to my attention, and to be fair to jay, that “tell us something we don’t know…” quote was his, and should have been given attribution because I sent a link to that whole post to her. I apologize for the mess-up, my friend!

I think that doctor had the wrong impression of me, when he said something like anyone can level in one or two days. That may be true, but it surely wasn’t true in my case, was it , guys?

Thanks again Info, and yes, that’s Da Wolk’.

Been MIA for a few nights (more neuro testing), but I’m headed back to Alex in a few minutes.

Do you guys still need the Scrolls of Rez?

Thanks

Oh–and just a heads-up for everyone: if you’ve been playing for a long time and you signed up for the Annual Pass, check your Battle.net account. You might be in the beta and not know it. I have two friends who discovered they were in and didn’t realize it because they never got emails.

Naturally, I hate them.

I didn’t start till October of '06, so I’m not sure how long I’ll have to wait before I get in, but it’s too long, dammit. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, yeah…at least you’ll be able to play once you DO get your invite. I’m probably not getting home to my WoW-capable PC until mid-May, at best. My invite’s probably sitting on my account, gathering dust.

I don’t like BETA-anything. I think I still have a Beta-MAX in storage at my Bro’s . I didn’t like it either. Besides, I don’t mind waiting till the next expansion. It’ll give me time to finish my herbalism and at least get started on Archeology.

Q

We also picked up a couple of epic things/achievements

So are we finally “warriorly correct”? ;)

Thanks to Mister Rik for the gear education as well as all of you for making the game more enjoyable.

Quasi

w00t!

You should send a current screenshot of Wolkie to WowInsider!

Great idea, Rik! She could just slip the new one in where that first one in the article is.

Thanks

Woo! I finally looted the recipe for Vial of the Sands.

Mondo congratulations!

Ok, inquiring minds gotta know. How much Archaeology did you have to do? How many total digsites, or Uldum ones? How many canopic jars?

I ask because I am trying to gather the courage and patience to get my Tauren druid alchemist started on that grind. I quail at the prospect of thousands of pickaxe-swings. And the alchemist isn’t my main, and my main still hasn’t scored all the archaeology rares yet, and I always prioritize him over the other in achieving stuff…

Only 7 canopic jars, I guess I’m one of the lucky ones  I didn’t keep track of all the digsites but it was a lot. I’ve made about 5-8 of all the Tol’var commons, plus 2 Tol’var rares (don’t ask how many NE artifacts).

I still want the Ultramarine Qiraji Battle Tank so I guess I’m not quite done. Plus I still have to grind out the mats for the vial.

Every so often, I think about getting the Professor title. (5 more rares!) Maybe if I start digging in Northrend I’ll get new rares.

Now that I’ve got those “epic” achievements, am I supposed to continue those 3 little dailies in Grizz Hills? I guess what I mean is, am I supposed to keep going there to get more HP for even better gear or is there something else I can do?

Thanks

You can keep saving up the HP for when they make the next tier of gear available. You can save up to 4000 HP, which will let you buy two pieces of the next tier of PvP gear (one of the 2200HP pieces - helm, chest, or legs, plus one of the 1650HP pieces - gloves, shoulders, belt, boots, etc.) Or you can upgrade your weapon - for 3400HP you can get one of the 2-hand PvP weapons, with a choice of sword, axe, or mace. All three have the same stats, so it’s just a matter of what you prefer visually. That will be an upgrade over the sword you have. Just make sure you’re getting the 2-hander - the PvP vendor has a bunch of 1-handers too, and you don’t want those.
