New WoW General Discussion Thread 6/8/10

Well that figures – I can’t follow the links from work, what are the differences? Seeing as I was using the same libram I got at level 50 I can’t feel too bad about the upgrade in any case.

The 200 level Libram is a reduction in the cost of Holy Light. It’s a nearly 10% reduction, which is substantial.

The key to Holy Pallies is that they have all the healing they need in Holy Light. You don’t need spell power, period. What you need is sustainability (via increasing MP and decreasing spell costs) and to a lesser extent shorter Time Until Heal (via haste). Sustainability is primarily achieved through Intellect: not only does it give you a larger mana pool, but Divine Plea also becomes much stronger because it replenishes 25% of your mana. Everything you equip should be geared toward being able to cast more Holy Lights, not larger Holy Lights.

Of course, that’s one build. You can also focus on a Flash of Light build, where you DO want bigger Flashes of Light, while saving Holy Light for oh-shit heals. In that case you’d be looking at a more generic healer build, although you would probably want orange +Int/+SP gems, since Int still helps you.

The Libram of Renewal reduces the cost of Holy Light by 10% which is what you’ll be spamming from now on if you weren’t anyway pre 80. The Libram of Renewal is good for certain fights (or maybe just one Valithria Dreamwalker) where the extra spell power adds a fair bit.

An upgrade is an upgrade though as you say  Go for the emblem trinket next would be my advice and farm normal ToC for the +int trinket that drops in there.

Well, as of last night, it’s Server #5 for my main. I’m joining our very own Daedelus in his raiding guild–hopefully I’ll end up meshing well with them! Or at the very least not make him end up regretting inviting me to app.

This will be my first time on a PvP server… Should be interesting to see how that dynamic works. Ulp.

Wah-waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

Only my first guild ever really held meetings in person. We’d usually gather on a hill in Westfall. I actually miss those–everybody would bust out fun outfits, pets, mounts, and items.

Protoype gathered up together to do the auctions for our Shadowmourne loot, though–we met on the floating island just off of Krasus’ Landing in Dalaran.

Congratulations!

 If you don’t like the content, join another guild. If you’re not good enough or geared enough to get into a guild that’s doing the content, shut up about the people who are nice enough to take you along.

Or organized crime, if you translate your name metaphorically? :dubious::smiley:

Pretty sure you want Int and/or Haste, depending on your role. You’ll probably want to check that on EJ and/or wait for one of our resident Holy Pallies to get more specific, though.

Haste is important, but it should be achieved primarily through item stats; Intellect is too important to waste sockets on anything else. This is actually why some BiS items for Holy Pallies are mail rather than plate, at least until Cataclysm hits; Holy plate tends to prioritize critical strike rating, which we don’t care much about except for Flash of Light builds, while Shammy gear prioritizes haste.

Whoa. It wasn’t that long ago when you said things were better with the guild and you had a discussion and stuff. Did the wheels fall off in the meantime?

BTW, Skammer, I’ve got a +20 INT gem sitting around on one of my toons that I decided I didn’t need after all; I’ll mail it to Keyne some time in the next couple days.

Yeah, got blindsided by some more shit over the weekend. (It’s never a good sign when a conversation starts with “What happened Wednesday and Thursday” when you’d posted more than a week in advance that you were going to be offline… And it gets worse when you can’t get a straight answer about a policy. Sigh.) Changes coming, allegedly, but too little, too late for my tastes. I’d rather try finding somewhere that I can enjoy raiding again than twiddle my thumbs back on Stormrage seeing if things improve.

Oh sure, I go away for a few weeks and you leave. I see how it is.

Sweet, thanks Tom.

So far I’m not at a point where Holy Light is the only spell I cast. I can do it, but the groups I’ve been in haven’t made it worthwhile in terms of the amount of damage they take. I know HL is more mana-efficient than FoL, but if you only need a 3k heal, FoL is faster and less mana. I don’t think this will ever be a raiding toon, anyway, since I hardly have time to raid on my priest as it is.

Yeah, when I’m healing heroics, I rarely have to cast Holy Light. Sacred Shield, Flash of Light, and Holy Shock suffice for 90% of the healing issues (although new tanks and the ICC 5-mans do give me a workout). In raids, damage comes so fast that even if you’re overhealing, you still want to be casting Holy Light just so you have the procs up and ready for when the burst damage does come down the line.

I JUST CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT YOU
Ah well, can’t say I didn’t warn you I might not be staying on Stormrage. Such is the life of a hardcore raider.

No LK kill last night. Had to call the raid early, our offtank never showed up and our top DPS kept disconnecting mid fight along with having to bring in an alt to heal/cleanse since I was switched back to healing. The offtank didn’t sign up for tonight either and another DPS has declined so I doubt we’ll be doing any attempts, but our usual 4/12 ICC25 run has been changed to a 6/12 run, with progression on Sunday.

Funny thing that my DXE crapped out after the first LK attempt, never even noticed until 4 attempts later when I realized my defile cooldown wasn’t popping up like it usually does.

I’ve been working on my hunter a bit more, like I need another 80, it’s nice to just go out and quest for a change. I’ve forgotten how cool some of these quests are.

Sorry Bosstone, your loss = my gain. Mwahahaha!

Unless she’s bad. Then you can have her back.

Did your combat log break? That’ll do it. For some reason, sometimes the combat log just stops working altogether, which means you lose most of your timers and alerts. (This will also break mods like MSBT.) I usually have to exit and come back in to fix it.

Gee, thanks. Tho **BT **only ever had me for randoms, so he’s just losing a quick RDF queue. I’ve still got alts there.

Set this up as a macro:

/run CombatLogClearEntries()

and just hit it whenever the combat log goes wonky.

Really? That’ll do it? Weird. This is for the bug where it just completely stops reporting, yeah?

Yep. It happened to me once, and running that fixed it. I’ve now got a big bright red FixCL button on my action bar when it stops up again. Not that it has since that first time, but.

Hmm. This article on WoW.com is interesting, then:

Blizzard to patrol Moon Guard’s Goldshire for harassment, erotic role playing
New pally project: I’ve set my main’s hearth to Light’s Hope Chapel, to better facilitate Baron Rivendare mount runs. I can skip and hop through Stratholme now without aggroing too much trash, and can do a run in less than 30 minutes, so I figure maybe a couple runs a day.

awe If that fixes that bug, I will owe you muffins forever. That’s a bug that’s been plaguing me for a good while.
