Just got home. After I left work I found my ex-girlfriend downtown, she’s ok, then my best friend who worked in the WTC, found him as I was walking across the Manhattan Bridge, that was an adventure in itself, and we headed to Carroll Gardens where we met up with some of his office mates. Dusty, Sweaty, but alive. I finally found a car service to bring me back to Coney Island.
Vix, glad you’re ok, and everyone else who’s made it home or to someone’s home safely.

I wish tomorrow morning I could wake up and see them there again on my way to work.

I am so happy to hear from all of you who are okay. I know that I am not that well known, but I do know all of you and I am so glad to hear that you are safe. My prayers go out to all who have been affected by this tradgedy.

I’m fine, thank God. I was asleep when the planes hit (the joys of being a college student), far uptown.

I’ve been worried about the New York Dopers all day, and I’m glad that so many people posted info. As I was reading this thread I was praying for good news about all of you. I hope you’re all somewhere safe tonight.

My prayers are with everyone who has family or friends around the World Trade Center.

I’ve been worried all day about the NYC dopers, too. You’re the only people I know from New York (the first thing I thought when I saw the footage was “I hope Manhattan doesn’t work in that building.”)

Just wanted to check in myself and let everyone know that I’m back on Long Island, safe and sound. I’m so glad to hear that everyone else is ok. Vix, you were foremost on my mind. I’m so glad that everyone is ok. I love you all.

Cartooniverse was accounted for here.

However, we haven’t heard any more from or about him since this morning (10:30AM PST). If he’s busy with rescue efforts, it’s not likely we’ll hear from him for a while. Let’s hope (and/or pray) that he and all the other dopers who haven’t checked in are ok.

Just wanted to thank those of you who took me up on my blatant plea for someone to talk to me while I was still at work and scared senseless. I’m still scared, but I’m home now, after spending most of the afternoon with my ex and his family.

I called my friend in NYC and got her VM, and someone said that her building is well away from the WTC. (Was that in this thread? Geez, it’s hard to keep track.)

I also called my friends in NJ. Husband was home. Wife is a nurse and is at the Union Hospital (?) in NJ and will be working late tonight.

I know most of the NYC dopers by user name only, but when I heard about this horrendeous act today, I worried and prayed and watched helplessly not only for the thousands of unknown victim, but for those who are apart of our little community. As your familiar names have checked in, tears of joy and relief stream down my face.

I’m still breathing – I didn’t even hear about today’s attacks until about 11:30 am. Right now I’m just pissed that I can’t do anything to help. I can’t even give blood because I’m sick. I’ll do my part to restore the supply once I’m better.

You all were among my hysterical listing of the family and friends I have in the city. As most of you know, my parents are transplanted New Yorkers, so my entire extended family is in the city. Luckily, my uncle’s office is in the 40s, and he’s fine, and my cousin, who works in the Empire State Building, is in Ireland at the moment. My godmother is in the Upper East Side, and while I don’t think we’ve gotten in touch with her yet, there is literally NO reason why she’d be downtown. She’s an Upper East Side kinda gal. Everyone else is safe.

Anyway, that’s the word from the fake New Yorker.
