I know the New York Times is one of the few “big city” newspapers that does not have a comics page.
Does it publish a daily horoscope?
Wow - I thought this thread would have been answered in seconds.
This is what I thought was one of the easiest and most objective questions ever asked in GQ. Just putting myself out on a limb I’d say the answer just *might *be “Yes they do” OR “No they don’t”.
I was curious about this mainly because my recent postings have been about science vs superstitution. So, if I learn that the New York Times publishes a horoscope it will show that even a serious newspaper deems it necessary to include one.
Nope. No horoscope.
Though a few years ago they did start something of a gossip column, cleverly titled Boldface Names.

Thank you very much.
The only thing clever about it. It is achingly arch and trying so hard (unsuccessfully) to be funny that it might as well be printed all in italics.
The answer is Yes and No.
While the New York Times has never printed a daily horoscope, it did print something exactly the same, but instead called the Astrological Forecast. It might have been daily, although I am not sure… but if you look at them, you will say “oh yeah, these are horoscopes,” because they are. they have all the horoscope signs with a prediction, the only difference in my opinion is the name “astrological Forecast” under which they were printed. The Astrological Forecast ran between the early 1950’s until the late 1980’s and were written by a man named Carrol Righter. He died in 1988. Someone else then continued writing the astrological forecast, but i guess it wasn’t as successful since it didn’t make it past the 80’s. Carroll Righter’s astrological forecast was in both the New York Times and LA times, among other newspapers.
*this is based off of research i have done on the New York Times newspapers… this is something i noticed while doing research on another topic…it may not be completely accurate.
I can’t find any evidence that Carroll Righter’s column ever appeared in the New York Times. None of them appear in a search on the site, and the Times has great archives. His obituary was in the Times, but it says nothing about his column appearing there and that would be a mighty strange omission.
I’ll bet you’re thinking of some other New York paper.
The vital question, however, is what sign is a zombie? The date of its original birth, or the date of its resurrection?
I get Gemini for the first, and Scorpio for the second. If the first, which head do I aim for? If the second, what do you aim for on something that doesn’t have much of a brain to aim for?
Need answer fast… [sub]braaaaiinnnsss[/sub]
That is a profound question.
