Would Medicatin’ Rush lie to you?
To the best of my understanding, the AHCA eliminates some Medicare taxes on high earners, but doesn’t actually cut Medicare benefits. This threatens the future of Medicare, but doesn’t seem to eliminate any benefits, which I would say is the common interpretation of “cutting Medicare.”
Further, Trump’s budget proposal (surprisingly) doesn’t propose Medicare cuts. So if I understand the facts correctly, I don’t think Trump’s statement, as quoted, is an unambiguous lie. Not that I trust him one teeny bit, of course.
