Meh, one year ago it was 4.4%, now it’s 3.9%. That’s an improvement.
I thought the Dear Leader said it was actually 50%.
Huh? Cite, I guess, because I’m totally lost about what you’re talking about. It doesn’t seem relevant to the discussion about unemployment rates in the last six months or year.
I don’t really give a damn about Trump’s other policies. I think he’s a huge shmuck and a very embarrassing leader to have representing us on the world stage; but I don’t think he’s some kind of fascist dictator as some people would have us believe. I would never have voted for him, but if there was some kind of hypothetical guarantee that the environment would suffer less under Trump than under another president, I would rather have Trump then. The environment is the most important thing. Our natural resources, which include the sea, forests, and the atmosphere and the air that we breathe, is more important than anything else. Whatever it takes to protect the environment, that’s what I’m in favor of doing.
If we don’t protect the environment from destruction, we are no different from the crowds of people who stood by as Jesus was crucified. We are no different from the crowds of people who worshipped a golden calf, a status object that personified greed, while people were enslaved and oppressed. If you believe that God created this planet, then LOVE THE PLANET OR YOU ARE STABBING GOD IN THE HEART.
“Hey, if God didn’t want to get stabbed in the heart, he’d move, right? So not my fault; now gedowdaheer.”
Up to and including civil disobedience, but stopping short of violence, right?
Who gets to define what is “violence” and what is not? :dubious:
So how are these fools getting out to these oil platforms? A rowboat? How are they getting to the dock? A bicycle made with no petroleum products and lubricated with corn oil?
Well, we already have laws and legal precedents that do so, so judges & juries I guess.
ETA: in exigent circumstances, the victim of violence may have to decide, or the US Navy / Coast Guard.
Most of them don’t actually mind drilling, they just want it to happen somewhere else, where they don’t have to see it. What was it running coach said earlier? “NIMBYism at it’s finest.” Yes. That’s exactly what Cuomo and his “citizen fleet” are.
No, they’re saying “Don’t drill, period.” You’re saying “drill, baby, drill” somewhere it doesn’t affect me.
Remember, Trump already played the NIMBY card in Florida.
We already have enough oil and petroleum products without setting up new drilling rigs. We can eventually develop cleaner alternatives to them; and in the interim, I believe they should be taxed higher to incentivize the development of said alternatives. I am not anti-industry, not in the slightest. I just believe it needs to be re-geared, as it were, with better materials. I am 100% positive that we have the scientific ingenuity in this country to develop vehicles that are not only cleaner, but far faster and more powerful, than ones that rely on combustion, and to make petroleum-powered engines as obsolete as a horse and carriage.
And you know the bolded part how, exactly? You read their minds? All of their minds? :dubious:
ETA: Is there any part of your contributions to this, your own thread, that are factual? The OP talked of letters of marque and Antifa’s navy, for instance; just how much of this is stuff you made up?
What do you think Andrew Cuomo’s carbon footprint is? He may be saying “Don’t drill, period.” but his actions certainly don’t indicate a willingness to forego the benefits of oil drilling. He’s a hypocrite (as is virtually everyone who says “Don’t drill, period.”).
I’m fairly certain you’re wrong and I never said this. I said IDGAF what you think I should do with my property, not that I was opposed to drilling on it. Frankly, for a handsome sum, I’d be delighted to sell my property to Exxon Mobil or whoever.
I think it’s fairly-well-indicated by how often most of them make use of oil-based products in their daily lives, which, at a guess, is almost all of them almost every day.
Try reading the OP again. The meat of it is two sourced quotes. Do you think Bloomberg just made up the Cuomo quote about a “citizen fleet”? I don’t.
OP did respond to my post #3, but nothing about the bipartisian opposition to the drilling proposal. Just enough of a response to defend his jitters about the bad guys haunting him. But let’s just remember 3 things:
- Democratic politician: Crazy, or hopped up or something.
- Antifa
- MPSIMS: Safe Space for scary reaction to provocative posts.
How else would you explain Cuomo’s “plan”? I guess he might be lying about it. That’s about the best case scenario I can see here: that Cuomo is a liar.
Aren’t you the guy who said he can kinda see where Timothy McVeigh was coming from?
And pleasure boat protests is where you draw the line?
No, Trump is a liar. Cuomo might be serious about his statement, which I think is really funny in an Abbie Hoffman kind of way. I don’t expect you to get it.
Assuming that you actually believe this, how would you rate his plan?
A) great idea!
B) good idea
C) not your best idea, buddy
D) bad idea
F) terrible idea!
