Newbie username question

Well…

When I was registering here, I accidentally didn’t capitalise the “L” on loneraven.

I then decided it wasn’t worth obsessing over. Unfortunately, the Grammar Whore™ in me thought otherwise.

In other words, this bugs me. A lot. I was going to simply stop using this username, register again and then announce in MPSIMS what I’d done. However, as a newbie, I was just reading the general rules for the SDMB stickied at the top of this forum, and it seems what I was planning (ie, having two usernames) is against the rules.

Any advice?

[Incidentally, I won’t be offended if the advice is “Shut up and stop being so incredibly anal” because that’s what my subconscious is telling me, too]

Just e-mail an Administrator and ask to have your name changed. It’s not that hard.

This thread happened to catch my eye as I was doing something else.

Today’s your lucky day.

Thanks so much, Tuba!

I see the original post is now labeled as “Loneraven.” So when a poster changes the username, all his/her past posts will appear under the new name? It’s no big deal for a minor change like this, but wouldn’t it be terribly confusing if someone picks a completely different name? I guess I’d better stick to my boring and meaningless name…

Yes. It is terrlibly confusing. Which is why we try to discourage it.

Has anyone ever been refused a name change request? Other than annoying people who ask a lot, of course.
