That’s 8 banned members from my sign up day, and there were 2 numbers that did not have any sort of name or profile attached to them-deleted perhaps?
Yes, that’s what would happen if the entire name was deleted. Perhaps the name itself was scandalous, like SILENT-TUBA NOT REALLY?
Or maybe it was just a couple more SILENT-BOB clones and they got tired of renaming them.
I do have to notice all the 0-post counts.
Was the board slow getting the permissions through that day, and the would-be posters went elsewhere? I know most question-answer boards don’t have the two-stage signup hassle.
There’s a story here that’s been told on the Fathom (Teeming Millions) board.
hijack never posted anything to bother anybody, but the name was too “threatening” for the paranoid board to tolerate. He was instantly banned, and came back as little me. Once the connection was in the open, that name was blocked from posting, but not listed as banned. So he got another and didn’t tell what it was.
Um, that’s not quite the story, you left out the part about all the screen names before “hijack.”

I remember around the time Lsura joined, when that jackass was registering under several users’ names (with a leading space) every goddam day for a week or two. The ones that don’t have names probably were caught before they posted anything. God, what a fucking stupid waste of flesh that guy was.

Because they are mutually exclusive. If one has had multiple previous screen names, that is sufficient cause for banning, and it would be incorrect to blame it on paranoid people finding the name threatening.
