Of COURSE he’s going to look bad; he’s a Republican…
I, for one, welcome our new amphibious overlord.
I’d rather see a Gingrich/Obama debate than a Romney/Obama one, but the party that couldn’t shoot straight needs to shoot itself in the foot first. Not out of the question.
Is Alvin Greene running?
Gingrich will create a special cabinet level Department of Asskicking just for him.
If the wingnuts don’t have any doubts that you’re a true-blue member of their tribe, gay sex is about the only old news that would count as baggage in their minds.
Probably very few.
Relax, we’re just talking about one state’s primary. It’s a long way to the nomination.
If a Republican wins the election, the Senate will go Republican as well, and the President will sign whatever the Congress feels like passing. So voting for the one least likely to screw up the country probably only matters if we might get into war.
So I’d say vote for the one who’s least likely to beat Obama.
Newt’s performance in Monday’s and Thursday’s debates seem to have been the movers here. People were hoping one of the anti-Romneys would look good enough (by their standards) to rally around, and Newt came through.
Newt will probably win though the margin will be interesting. IIRC his polling numbers are better in PPP which is automated than the live polls and his ground game is probably not the best. The margin does matter: if he blows out Romney by ten or more points he will have huge momentum. A big win may also knock out Santorum which would help Newt a lot.
Florida is the big prize of course. Newt was polling around 50% there in December so a resurgence there is not out of the question. OTOH it’s a big state where advertising and organization will matter. If Newt wins Florida all bets are off and we have a genuine race on our hands. If Romney wins, order will be restored and he will probably plod on to victory.
It will be interesting to see if the GOP establishment orchestrates another beatdown like in December. It will be more difficult the second time around but they are terrified of the prospect of Candidate Newt with good reason.
Newt's campaign is one of the marvels of modern American politics. He doesn't have organization. He doesn't have money. He doesn't have endorsements. He hasn't held office in more than a decade. His entire campaign has revovled around bashing the media during debates. That's how he became the front-runner in December and that's how he came back in the last week.
If Newt wins today, it will be amusing to watch him strutting around like the world-historical titan he thinks he is.:D
I really, really hope all this keeps up until the Convention in August. I want Republican riots here in Tampa!
It’s amazing that this big a douchebag and victimizer can spin things to make himself look like the aggrieved party. South Carolina Republicans must be the dumbest motherfuckers in the country.
They are, they are, they’re the direct ideological descendants of the dudes who started the Civil War.
I would never vote for anyone who would terrify me if they got elected. Why? Because I said there was no way Newt Gingrich would ever get any traction in the Republican nominating process. This goes to show what the hell I know.

There’s a long tradition here:
[QUOTE=James Louis Petigru, former Attorney General of South Carolina]
“South Carolina is too small for a republic and too large for an insane asylum.”

I hope all roadways out of Tampa will be closed for whatever reason. Keep them republicans penned up; Tampa’s a good place for them.
NBC has just projected Gingrich as the winner in South Carolina.
So now he’s got what? 10 days to build an organization in Florida and for his SuperPAC supporters to flood the state with ads.
Ten days ago I would have said (and did say) that Romney would win South Carolina. I was wrong.
Romney will win Florida. Well, unless Santorum drops out and Gingrich wails away again in the debates.
We’ll see.
CNN is predicting that Santorum will finish third, ahead of Paul. If so, I do not believe that he will drop out.
If Newt wins, it means that the Talk Radio wing has crushed all opposition, and the Republican party becomes a subsidiary of Fox News instead of the other way around.
I don’t know, Rush was pretty pissed at Newt for going after Mitt’s experience at Bain.
Well, he knew his audience and threw them the racist demagogic red meat he knew they craved from a ruhpublakun candidate.
If Newt wins, I’ll know there is, there IS a Santy Claus!
