But is there a sanity clause?
Oh honey, I’m sorry. You had such high hopes, but no.
Oh, jsgoddess, that was a really poor Chico Marx impression.
“There ain’t no such thing as a sanity clause.”
Paul is on CNN right now talking as if he won the thing. (They all are, I suppose.) He just promised to cut spending $1 trillion on one year and “rein in the Fed.” And the crowd started chanting, “There’s No Fed!” or something. Then he started talking about the gold standard.
I already knew that there was an over-abundance of morons in the state, this just confirms it.
Well done you redneck holy rollers.
But the use of “honey” as a term of affection for the mentally afflicted worked for me.
I think it was “Audit the Fed”! - I’ve heard that before. It’s a particularly geeky political chant.
That’s an astounding turn around. What do the Florida polls look like?
Romney about 40%
Gingrich about 20%
Santorum about 15%
Paul and others following up.
In other words, about the same as South Carolina looked 10 days ago.
ETA: It might be worth noting that early voting in Florida is already underway.
Paul ran such a good race it took all of the other candidates to beat him. Seriously, how fucking delusional are Paul supporters? They act like Paul is actually going to win.
The question I have is will Santorum drop out tomorrow or hold off till Monday?
Well, um… not just ideologically, but generationally as well.
Have you ever spent any time in Columbia?
How about Charleston?
It is a true hotbed of racial separatism and outright ignorant silliness.
I worked on their two newspapers as a consultant several times and got a real sense of how and why South Carolinians felt and feel the way they do. Also why the fell, just to put a jab in.
Y’all might think Georgia is racist, but our capital city has had a black mayor since Andrew Young (who, incidentally I was lucky enough to be on his technical staff).
Compare our neighbor to the east.
I am probably comparing roses to tinfoil here but it always bother me that these backward dingbats are just 50 miles away from me. And there isn’t any border guard to keep them from invading my state.
Doubt it, Obama is not going to win any bigger than in 2008, and at best for him it’ll be 51-48, (the rest to minor candidates).
Perry’s comment that “South Carolina is at war with Washington” made me wonder if he was from alternate universe with an independent Confederacy.
I wonder if Santorum is going to drop out after this, if he does, Gingrich might win Florida. This may mean a Clinton-Obama style long slog through June although Romney will be the eventual nominee still.
It appears that Santorum will finish a good solid third, within 10 points of Romney. I doubt that he’ll drop out if that turns out to be true.
And boy howdy, did Romny cave all of a sudden. Current results show Gingrich at 40% and Romney at 26%. Wow.
Most of the Fox News personalities have been pretty harsh on Newt. Its pretty clear he’s not whomever calls the shots at Fox want to win.
CNN’s latest total is 41% Gingrich, 26% Romney, 18% Santorum, so I guess he won’t.
With 65% of precincts reporting, Newt’s leading, 40-26. Damned if PPP didn’t nail it.
Looks like Romney’s back to needing to prove he can break 30% somewhere besides his own backyard.
It’ll be interesting to see the first post-SC poll from Florida.
So it flips in one day from “anyone but Romney” to “anyone but Newt”. Thing is, the Republican Establishment fucking hate Newt. All of them. And so how the hell does Newt keep going when he isn’t even on the ballot in several key states, like, you know, Virginia.
Is he not on the ballot in States other then VA?
