Calgary, AB – Imagine that you are sitting in the audience of the Monster Jam seeing your beloved 1992 Buick Regal crushed by the one and only master of destruction, Grave Digger? Do you laugh, cry or scream? On a scale from one to ten how shocked would you be?
Folks, that’s exactly what happened in Calgary, AB, Canada, at the Saddledome the weekend of March 5-7, 2004. Seems that things got a little confusing at the salvage yard and the vendor towing cars for the event accidentally grabbed a 1992 Buick Regal belonging to a customer who was storing his vehicle at the yard while he was on vacation rather than a car scheduled for demolition.
The gentlemen, who just happened to be in the audience of the Monster Jam on Friday paid Event Manager, Andrew Felix, a visit on Saturday morning. "He said, ‘Hi, I think you crushed my car last night.’ "
Needless to say, Felix was stunned. He brought the gentlemen down the area outside the Saddledome where the cars are stacked between performances to identify his vehicle. He asked the gentlemen if his car was one of the cars in the stack and he replied, “Yeah, that one is it; it’s the one on the bottom.”
You’d think the vendor would have noticed that one car was in much better shape than all the others.
It was a twelve-year-old Buick. It couldn’t possibly have been in very good shape!
Some cars at the junkyard look pretty good, but have shot engines and trannies. Some rusty shitboxes on the street are in immaculate running order. With cars, appearances are nothing to go by.
