Next up: Indiana and North Carolina

Obama was only behind before Christmas - an eon ago in Political Primary Time. Clinton’s own supporters are asking her to step down.
I don’t think she will before June 4th - but I definitely believe she will before Denver. Even Clintonites of the highest caliber are saying these things. Google around a bit…

When was that? Since Iowa, it’s been at best a clear lead for Obama and, at worst, a slim lead for Obama. I don’t think he’s ever trailed her in pledged delegates (but I could be wrong).

I guarandamntee you that if the positions were reversed, the party would be leaning on Obama twice as hard to step down. I mean, if Clinton kept winning by narrow margins, nobody but the diehards would be rooting for the newcomer to keep going, and everyone else would want him to shut up and step back so the party could solidify behind Clinton. Frankly, she’s getting off easy, IMO.

No, he should not be getting around 75% of the vote, because McCain’s the ONLY REPUBLICAN RUNNING! It’s not hard to get that much of the vote (and he really should be getting more than that), when every competitor has given up. Clinton is still in the race, so it is not surprising that he can’t win a vast majority, and means precisely dick about his long-term chances for the nomination.

There, at least, we can agree.

Obama. Was. Never. Behind. In. Pledged. Delegates. Stop. Asking. This. Question.

He most certainly does not have to make a deal with Clinton, and the only way Florida and Michigan will get seated is if their delegates do not alter the outcome thus far.

Who gives a rat’s ass about “pledged” delegates? It’s total delegates that count, and it always has been. The whole “pledged” delegates meme was something the Obama campaign dreamed up when they were behind in total delegates but wanted to have something.

And yes, Hillary was quite a bit ahead.

The superdelegates.

“Democracy’s great, unless it doesn’t give the result I want.”

I. Don’t. Give. A. Rat’s. Ass. About. “Pledged”. Delegates.

Sure, he doesn’t have to deal, but if he doesn’t deal he loses in Nov. That’s his choice, I guess, but it doesn’t say much for his statemanship, leadership, or diplomatic qualities if he isn’t willing to extend an olive branch* in order to win the General election.

*Veep? Come-on, he can’t evenoffer the “not worth a bucket of warm spit” fucking Veep?

They are the *last *ones that care.

Are you fucking serious? So you mean that if a candidate can line up, say, 500 superdelegates on their side before the first primary, everyone else should just quit before the damn thing even starts because pledged delegates don’t matter and they’re all so far behind?

Why even have a contest? Let’s just let all the candidates lobby the DNC for the position and fuck the constituents getting to vote.

OH WAIT! I’m sorry. We need to let Florida and Michigan vote, but everyone else can go screw.

That’s just fucking ridiculous and you know it.

Oh, for god’s sake! She’s DONE. It’s OV-ER. Go ahead and run through the stages of grief, but know that the campaign is over. We have our nominee. There is no math that can grant her the nomination at this point. The supers are not going to give it to her, unless she has an awful lot of photographic negatives in her safety deposit box. She. Will. Not. Be. The. Nominee. And she will not be president. Ever.

The DLC can go fuck themselves. And the Clintons can join them. The Democratic Wing of the Democratic Party won, finally. We can get back to building the party now. Obama will be president, and his coattails will be huge. Get the fuck used to it.

No. He. Doesn’t. That’s just your latest talking point. Get over it.

Yeah, because the only kind of leadership that counts is the kind that shows your selfishness in demanding that rules be broken when it’s in your personal best interest to break them. Fuck anyone else who abided by them. If you can win by breaking them, and smearing your opponent in the process, Woo Hoo, you’re a LEADER!!

No. Like I said, get over it.

Well, duh! The Pubbies fielded a slate of candidates for the Very Silly Party, they ended up with McCain by default. Rudy? Romney? Huckleberry? It is to laugh!

If they had found the videotape of Hillary plugging Vince Foster, Obama would be running against Edwards. Perhaps not to this extent, but the only reason the Dems have a split over candidates is because they have two or more candidates available. Dodd would have been OK, Richardson even better, I like Obama and I like Pretty Johnny and Hillary will do, if we must.

The Pubbies had every advantage, including ruthlessness, and fucked it all up. Now, they are at a positive disadvantage, and they are giving the pooch a screwing it ain’t *never * gonna forget!

Damn near everyone since that’s the whole point of, you know, those elections that the states & territories have been having?

Obama isn’t all that ahead when you count elections. He has his large lead due to his superior performances in the Caucuses. Which are election-like, but do not represent the will of the people, except for those few in the room at that point in time.

It’s *total *delegates that count. Not SuperDelegates, not Pledged delegates. **Total Delegates. **

Uh huh. Would it make you feel better and use less rolly-eyes if I had said “Damn near everyone since that’s the whole point of, you know, those elections & caucuses that the states & territories have been having?”

'Cause I’m willing to go that extra step.

Look, it wasn’t a blowout, but Obama still has the game won at this point. They are now just playing out the clock. He’s got the lead and he’s got the football and all he has to do is take a couple of knees. Hillary’s only hope is some kind of miraculous, fluke play involving a fumbled snap and a whole bunch of laterals and somebody crashing into the marching band in the endzone. It’s not theoretically impossible but it’s not going to happen.

Hillary put up a good fight for a long time. She deserves respect for it. She showed a lot of game. Neither she or her supporters should be disparaged for playing the game hard and they’ve probably done Obama some good in the long run. He is now officially seasoned and I think all the stupid attacks on Wright, flag pins, the neighbor who’s a former 60’s radical, etc. are going to be tired and irrelevant come fall. I also don’t begrudge Hillary supporters wanting to vent frustrations right now. I won’t even say that Hillary wouldn’t have necessarily been a better POTUS than BHO. I think now is the time to give her some space, let the last few primaries play out and then let her exit gracefully the first week of June. As grueling and interminable as this whole death march has become, I think the Clintons deserve to leave with some dignity and some props and not in a patronizing way either.

A toaster oven, at the very least.

I think of it as a 100 mile auto race. Obama is on mile 99 and Clinton is on mile 96. You can say that there’s only 3% difference between them so they’re practically tied but the reality is that unless Obama’s wheels fall off and his engine explodes, he’s going to cross the finish well before Clinton does.

How about the home version of our show?
