Next week's Enterprise: V?

Saw the previews for the next week’s show, and the pre-industrial culture it centers on. One scene shows an individual with her humanoid face torn off…and reptilian features underneath…reminiscent of the early NBC sci-fi
“V” (Marc Singer, Robert Englund, etc).

Rip-off?

I missed that scene, but as far as a rip off of V, I think it’s too soon to tell. There have been reptilian-like aliens in other ST series, but they didn’t eat humans. Next week’s does look promising…maybe getting off the ship, mingling with an alien society, spicing it up with a little romance, might add some texture and depth to the show and the characters, which they so desparately need.

I didn’t see that scene either. I guess I just quickly assessed it as show intended to build a case for the Prime Directive.

Could it be the return of the Suliban? I was hoping they’d just drop the Temporal Cold War.

It does look like a fun little trip. And it sounds like T’Pol will be as fun as ever. But I bet Trip will live it up. I hope they take this as an opportunity to bring out more about Hoshi. They’ve been keeping her almost at Uhura participation levels since the 2nd episode.

You know I just noticed that Hoshi is a Bronze-level international ballroom dancer. I wonder if they’ll ever play that into the show.

I’m kinda geeked because it looks like a throwback to the cool “alternative Earth” episodes of the original series. It would be seriously cool if it turned out that the society was run by a giant alien computer and that Archer has to smash it to “save” their society.

While there are some things I do have problems with about the show, I am really enjoying Enterprise! Oh heck, I would have enjoyed it anyway, seeing that it brought Scott Bakula back to series TV :stuck_out_tongue: And horror of horrors, but that dreadful theme song is even growing on me! LOL I’ve found myself humming it in the shower!

Next week’s episode looks very interesting, and it looks like Archer is going to get a little action too. As for T’Pol, give her some time, please–she is a Vulcan, after all. Still though I think I’d rather see her garbed in more traditionally Vulcan robes. I noticed the reptilian skin beneath a humanoid face in the previews as well–not sure if it’s a new alien or perhaps the return of the Siobhan, but whatever I’m looking forward to watching it.

Couple of questions/ideas to toss out to the Trek folks here at SDMB: What is it that the Vulcan’s cannot tolerate about human aroma?! Good grief! Also, does anyone think that perhaps T’Pol might become “romantically involved” with one of the crew (Trip? Archer?)? LOL I know, seems very remote, but now that she’s free of her arranged engagement … one never knows. Now that we’ve “met” the Andorians, can the Tellarites be far behind? That’s my next Federation-member race I’d like to see.

Yeah! let’s get some of the V actors! I want Captain Archer and Beastmaster teaming up! They can go fight Freddy Krueger, who is really the Future Guy[sub]tm[/sub]! Then Micheal Ironside can kill some bugs!

Maybe bathing standards have become more European in the 22nd century. I mean, we seem to assume that greater technology means better hygiene, and maybe that’s not the case (and they are living on a starship where water is a premium). Then again, it could be all that aftershave and Scope mouthwash. Or maybe we just all smell like sour milk and don’t know it…

Uh, I think you mean the return of the Suliban, not the return of the Irish chicks. I’m rooting for the return of the funky disco aliens, myself. Although they are apparently too stupid to synthezise water…?

I’m still waiting for the first expendable to die in a completely avoidable situation (crewman, go explore that dark mysterious cave while we wait here in relative safety).

I also wonder when they are going to use the Vulcan Mind-meld as a plot device.

it sure looked like a Suliban to me.

Me too, dammitall! I didn’t care for it at first, but once I got used to the fact that it ain’t no Jerry Goldsmith, it didn’t bother me so much anymore.

Yikes, you’re right! LOL The alien did have a rather Suliban look… don’t know where Siobhan came from, other than that I’ve got that old-age disorder that sometimes makes me confuse names. Thanks for the catch, Sturmhauke!

And my theory on why Vulcans can’t tolerate the human odor: perhaps because they’re meat eaters, and Vulcans are vegans? Just a thought!

You’re welcome. Those aliens looked blue and scaly to me, not brown and mottled like Suliban. We’ll have to wait till next week I suppose…

Ah, a little bit of racism from the good ol’ US before I leave work for the day.

Thanks for making my day great.

Aw, the little Vulcan dosen’t like a wiff of
Testosterone/androsterone/progesterone/estrogen metabolic
by-products?

T.S.!

Have a happy day at work, amanset.
