Hats off to the Vikes.
Blah!
Hats off to the Vikes.
Blah!
Well this is easy next week. Go Saints over Vikes. I am glad the Vikes ended the Cowboys, but man the last two weeks sucked as someone that hates Dallas and then also wants to see the Eagles and Brett Favre fail.
Jets are on a nice roll. That was a big win yesterday.
2010 Dallas non-division games:
Home: Chi, Det, NO, Jax, Ten
Away: GB, Min, AZ, Hou, Ind
Word on the street:
Cowboys to keep Wade Phillips and Roy Williams
Looks like a brutal schedule. Once we see when each game occurs, it’ll really indicate just how tough that’s going to be. .581 winning percentage of opponents and a .700 winning percentage of away games is ridiculous. I guess there’s one small benefit to the Eagles losing that week 17 game.
In contrast, the Eagles have a schedule with a winning percentage of .543 (sightly lower), but almost all of their difficult games are home games (.688 at home to .400 away).
Philadelphia non-division games:
Home: GB, Min, Atl, Hou, Ind
Away: Det, Chi, SF, Jax, Ten
So the good guys get to face Atlanta and San Francisco instead of New Orleans and Arizona, and they get the tougher parts of the AFC South and NFC North at home.
I betcha the schedule makers don’t put Chi, Det, Jax, Ten, or Hou after Thanksgiving.
League sources expect former Dallas coach Chan Gailey to be hired as coach of the Bills. REALLY?
Yep, it’s confirmed.
Looks like he’ll serve as their offensive coordinator though. The head coaching spot is still up for grabs.
Dallas Cowboys 1991 vs. 2009 (similarities)
We all know what Dallas did in 1992!
(Don’t rain on my little parade)
Lost to the Rams?
Well, yes, but Dallas doesn’t play the Rams next year.
Whew!
Though there’s always the post-season.
I’m of the opinion that the Eagles can’t win with Donovan McNabb. He’s plenty good enough to win a Super Bowl, but just not with this team. I think the basic offensive philosophy is actually the worst possible one with McNabb’s skill set.
So, what would you do if you were running the Eagles? Trade him? Take one more season with him and let him walk? What could you get for him if you did trade? Please, for the sake of this topic, put aside your jealous prejudices.
I’d like to think we could get a 1st and a later round pick for a guy who isn’t exactly old and is still playing at a very high level. But most people who have written about the possibility of McNabb being traded don’t seem to think he could bring in a first. And few think it’s a possibility anyway, which I’m not sure I understand. I think this is the perfect chance to trade him. He has only a year on his deal (so he isn’t a long term investment for a team and if he works out you can negotiate your own terms for an extension), and the fans are mostly wanting to see him gone, so there won’t be a lot of backlash for trading a cornerstone and big name guy.
I think Reid is probably not going to pull the trigger on it though. He’s already said he wants McNabb back, and he’s not particularly known for changing his mind on his game plan.
Well, were I running the Eagles and were I not an individual who dislikes the franchise, I’d have to wait and see what happens in Vikings land. If Brett trots off into the sunset, there might be a market for a replacement and McNabb might be a good fit. He’s not a precision passer like Brett is (for the most part), but with a strong running game, explosive skill players and the ability to extend the play I think he could do well there. Plus there is the whole coaching connection.
Even if there is no real interest in McNabb by a Farve-less Vikings team, the illusion of interest could drive up McNabb’s stock. If I could get a 1st and 3rd for him, I’d pull that trade. Assuming that the Eagles are comfy with Kolb and Vick running the show.
I would love to see McNabb traded to the 49ers in that I think it would help both franchises quite a bit. They might not offer a 1st rounder, but then again they might package a 2nd with a pretty good player. What positional needs do the Eagles have other than backup QB after Kolb is given the keys?
Note: While I do hate the Eagles, I really really hate McNabb. Of all the QBs in the league, it’s him and Rivers that I truly hate. Those guys are such total douchebags. And while they both beat up on the Giants pretty good, that’s not why I hate them. It’s their douchebaggery that I really can’t stomach. So getting McNabb out of the East would definitely help my blood pressure.
Their biggest need is certainly at OLB. It is absolutely critical that the Eagles get someone who can cover TEs and/or rush the passer there. Someone who is good at getting at the QB would make everything easier for Cole/LDE platoon. TEs killed the Eagles this season.
If Sheldon Brown moves to safety, they’ll need another corner. Actually, Asante Samuel is 29 (and very hit or miss), and Brown is 30, so they’ll need a corner or two no matter what. Trent Cole is a beast, but the other end of that line will need a young guy soon. They might be alright there for the short term, DE was a very, very productive position this season. Their DTs are both good and young… Bradley is young and very promising. Aside from OLB, S (if Brown doesn’t move over, he’d be an exceptional safety), and maybe some depth at LDE/DT, the Eagles have lots of talented, young players.
Their skill positions are all unbelievably stacked for the long term. McCoy (21) had a productive rookie season and looks to be on his way to being a quality to Pro Bowl level player. DeSean Jackson (23) is a Pro Bowler, Maclin (21) had a strong rookie season. Their TE (Celek, 24) deserved to be a Pro Bowler. Their O-Line hurt them this season but they had tons of injuries there. Only one starter is over 28, and if Shawn Andrews can ever get healthy, the line should be pretty good. They could be taking on players there as a luxury instead of a need, drafting there now and developing players without forcing them into action for a couple years… They are pretty much set on offense for now.
So, OLB 1st. OLB 2nd, CB/S 3rd and 4th, OL depth 5th.
He’s always struck me as an intelligent, likeable guy with a good personality and sense of humor. He’s dealt with enough shit in his career (Rush, TO, Philly fans) that he’s earned my respect for not being bitter. I can’t understand hatred towards the guy.
He mocks and taunts opponents, which makes him a douchebag.
EDIT: Here’s one example, though there are many more that didn’t make it to youtube.
Wow. Those are… incredibly poor examples an NFL player mocking or taunting his opponents. I am fascinated by how weak that was.
You mean the example that was flagged for a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty was a poor example of unsportsmanlike conduct?
