Sorry, those crows-nests for the dancers looked like a bad joke. The new stadium is silly looking and I don’t see the magnificence of it.
*Jesus *fucking Christ. That’s a big damn problem – the Giants have absolutely no one of value behind him.
Just wait 30 years when people of the future get a chuckle out of what was considered “state of the art” in 2009.
Yeah, losing Kenny Phillips is all kinds of bad. I’m thinking the Giants may be due for another couple years of being injury-plagued. Injuries killed them in 2003 and 2004, were bad in 2005 and 2006, and then were pretty mild* in 2007 and 2008. Two years is a pretty good run of being mostly injury-free; maybe it’s just Big Blue’s turn in the barrel again.
*Lost Shockey in 07 and Osi in 08, but that’s nothing compared to 03-04 and much less than 05-06.
From the “if only it were true” file:
You know, I think Jerry is a complete douche… but I can’t say that if owned an NFL team I wouldn’t want to play GM. I mean, drafting people and signing free agents and stuff is fun!
Jerry Jones plays fantasy football, just on a really grand scale.
Glad to see the Lions snap a 19 game losing streak!
Good Lord, that was a horrible game. I think Skins fans are reduced to paper-bag-over-the-head-level humiliation after that one. Thing is, Moss and Campbell finally got on track today. But they rushed for ZERO yards in the first half. Couldn’t convert a third down to save their lives. Had a 4th & goal from the Lions’ 1 and couldn’t score. The defense allowed Matt Stafford to look like a Pro Bowler, practically.
I agree, the situation is Dallas is much better than it is in DC. I figure Danny boy is calling Messrs. Cowher and Shanahan and inquiring about their plans for the 2010 season…
And, of course, he’ll give Mike Shanahan control over personnel, and the team will be even worse than it is now.
It’d be interesting to see Shanahan and Portis ‘reunited.’
Poor Zorn, wasn’t that long ago he was scaring the rest of the East but good.
Dan Synder is not a patient man. How likely is Zorn to be fired mid-season considering the Redskins’ performance yesterday?
Butbutbut…Albert Haynesworth! Doesn’t signing a guy for a hundred mil guarantee you a playoff spot?? <snicker>
Anyway, back in the land of teams that matter – I know it was only the Bucs, but still, I’ll rate a shutout as a very effective answer to all the “Oh crap, look at all these injuries on defense” comments (mine included) about the Giants. Faith restored.
Not even slightly. He’s not just the head coach, he’s also the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. They’d have to install a whole new offense in the space of a week.
At the end of the season, there’s every chance he’ll be fired (assuming he doesn’t make the playoffs), but not now.
Mid-season? I was figuring he wouldn’t make it to the next game.
Seriously, Snyder can’t fire the whole team, so all he can really do is fire the coach. RNATB may know better than I do, but I will be surprised if Zorn lasts the season, especially if there are more embarrassments to come.
So, can we please smack Flozell Adams in suspensionland now? Two weeks ago he gets a fat fine for repeatedly tripping players. Lesson learned? Pffft. Last night, he was at it again. Watch as he pulls the same cheap-ass move on Julius Peppers that he pulled on Tuck and Osi.
Obviously this turd doesn’t care about getting fined. Maybe sitting him for a week will get the message that bitch moves like this won’t be tolerated.
I was a huge Redskins fan from about 1982 until about 1993, when I moved to the Cincinnati area and adopted the Bengals as my new team. I still rooted for the Skins and followed them fairly closely until about five years ago.
Dan Snyder has absolutely ruined this team. I know that he’s a big fan of the franchise, but he is just out of his league when it comes to football decisions. His “acquire any big name free agent at any cost” approach hasn’t ever worked (and it never will, building through the draft is the name of the game) and he still hands out ridiculous contracts like candy.
He has no idea what in the hell he is doing. He needs to disengage himself from active operations of the team and let football minds make the big decisions for him.
Well, the problem with that is that if he fires Zorn, he not only fires his coach, but also his offensive coordinator. And his quarterbacks coach.
Man, I don’t get some of these silly rankings. Sure, the Cowboys still have some question marks. But one poll has the Giants ranked #1, fair enough. Now the 'boys lost a pretty close one to them. But somehow defeating the Panthers dropped Dallas two spots to number 17. C’mon… Heck, the Panthers only dropped one spot after losing that game.
I don’t recall any time in which Zorn scared the Giants.
It’s too bad Snyder didn’t stand up to the fanbase and hire Jim Fassel as he originally planned. I think the Redskins would be a pretty good team right now.
The North and East both went 3-0 apart from Redskins @ Lions. Could have been another perfect 4-0 week for the East, but noooo, the Redskins had to lose to the 0-19 Lions. Oh the humanity.
Here comes Shanahan
Here comes Shanahan
Right down Shanahan Lane…
“Taking notice” is probably a better assertion, Ellis. With new Coach Zorn they started off 2008 at 4-1. The notion they had assembled the pieces to become a division powerhouse scared me. I don’t like losing to them one bit. The point being though that the prospect of what once looked like promising leadership for the team has declined precipitously.
