I put in a pick for the Panthers-Rams game instead. I find it funny that I picked the Panthers there but then the Rams in the other spot. Shows I much I liked picking that game, eh?

The Thursday night opener got me off on the right foot; I’m glad I snuck it into Hal’s thread. That 2-0 bumped my record for the early action up to 10-7-1. Then began the steady decline, going 3-3 in the late games and 2-3-1 in the night games, for a combined 15-13-2 for the week. Over 50% in the picks often translates into a good week, and this one was no exception.
Early Games
Risk 30 to win 60 on the Steelers/Browns over & Broncos/Bills Under
I expected more points out of the Browns, since they usually play the Steelers tougher than that. Oh well, both picks still covered, so I’m up 60 heading into the late games.
Late Games
Risk 55 to win 50 on the Chargers
Picking the AFC over the NFC is almost always a good bet regardless of the spread. Chargers bring me up to +110.
Sunday Night
Risk 30 to win 25 on the Giants
Giants had a real shot in this game. Down by 3 with around 3:00 to play and three timeouts they held the Cowboys to a 3rd & 7 at midfield. One more play and the offense – which had no trouble scoring all day – would get the ball back and be in great position for a game-winning drive. Well, not great field position, but great time position. Sadly, they let up a TD on that 3rd & 7, so Eli never came back in. Oh well, +80 for the week is still a good week.
