As a perennial Lions fan (because I grew up in SE Michigan), I’m happy to see the old Georgia Bulldog (because I used to work there) Stafford get to play in the post-season. As an LA guy, who used to root for SF when there were no LA teams, I like seeing the California teams go at it. But, naturally, I gotta go with the Rams. And as someone who always roots for the underdog, I’m leaning to the Bengals, in an upset. There’s no logic in any of this, it’s all sentiment.
Should this have been directed at me? I was the one who said I should be rooting for the Bengals but wasn’t really feelin it.
In any case, you’ve convinced me; as a fellow fan of a Midwestern perennial underdog big cat team, I will root for the Bengals. Go cats! (Is that something Bengals fans say?)
No, but “Oh fuck!” definitely is
(Until recently, anyway).
Stupid question, but I couldn’t tell from the shot from below of what those planes were in the flyover in KC. So what were they?
Don’t care much about the NFC, though I guess I’d like to see Stafford have a chance. AFC, have to go Bengals. Not just an AFC West thing, but it helps.
I didn’t see the flyover, but KC frequently has flyovers with B-2 stealth bombers which are based at nearby Whiteman AFB, so that would be my guess.
They were from Whiteman, but were the A-10s.
What an escape and play by Mahomes!
I was imagining Yakety Sax playing during that scramble.
That’s an odd coincidence; I was just in that area this week. Had a hotel room literally across the street from the site of the old Silverdome.
What a mismatch so far. The Bengals need to tackle a bit…
The halftime show is ridiculous! You can’t hear them at all over the music. You’d think they never did this before.
That was an interesting choice to go for a silly SNL skit instead of a halftime show.
Major screwup by the Chiefs at the end of the half. I know hindsight is 20/20, but with no timeouts I think you have to kick a FG with 5 seconds on the clock.
Score is much closer than it feels.
While I remain, in general, in shock of how effective screen passes continue to be in the NFL, it usually doesn’t work when you run it three consecutive plays.
Wow, what was looking like it might be a bit of a blowout earlier is now a tie game. If the Bengals’ defense can step it up a little more now, it might be a horse race.
At least, no matter the ending, it’s been another really good game to watch. All you can ask for when you have no real rooting interest.
Wow. Did not expect such a series of mental burps by Mahomes.
That was some Mahomes shit.
He has the widest range of outcomes, both unbelievably good and unbelievably bad, possibly of any QB ever.
So lucky that FG kicker didn’t miss otherwise that would be the story of the offseason. Sports fandom/reporting is so results-oriented, so the fact that the kicker got it, or missed, determines whether that’s something that sticks with Mahomes his whole career or forgotten.
Oofa. Throwing into double coverage …
