NFL 2021: Week Eight in the Box

Some people would probably subscribe year round just to watch old games, get access to NFL network and their various programs. I think the $100 subscription runs through June.

That makes sense. So $100 for the whole year, or $10 a month. Okay, I see you, NFL.

To finish that thought, if the $10 a month version is just a new feature that will always be available from now on, then it’s pretty slick waiting until late October to introduce it. That’s probably the most profitable possible time of the year to start offering monthly service.

As for tonight I’m torn. I want to watch the Manning brothers but the Giants are playing. I care about this game.

I really enjoyed watching the entire first half with the Manning brothers. It didn’t hurt that the two guests were Jon Stewart and Michael Strahan.

I don’t really think you’re missing much by not having standard announcers.

Tough loss but man that was some horrible football on both sides. Sucks to lose winnable games.

And of course it went just perfectly to lose my fantasy game.

How long after the game do you have to wait before it’s available on Game Pass? And is it a full rebroadcast, 3 hours for a game with commercial breaks and everything?

Yikes!! Henry Ruggs III to be charged with DUI causing death. Very good chance his career is over.

Raiders WR Henry Ruggs III to be charged with DUI following deadly car wreck. He was also injured, but no details on that part.

I’m not 100% sure, but I think the full broadcast is available pretty soon after the the game, within an hour, and the condensed version, which lasts about 40 minutes and cuts out all of the stuff that’s not immediately surrounding the actual game play, usually gets posted Sunday night after midnight. Probably quicker for the TNF/MNF game but I haven’t watched closely.

The Raiders are finishing up their bye week. I think Ruggs’ bye will be just a bit longer.

Haven’t seen the NFC this strong as a conference since the 1990s. Whoever eventually emerges should be favored to beat whoever comes out of the AFC.

Well duh, the NFC has Brady now.

In particular the NFC East now has a good team. Unfortunately it the Cowboys, but it’s nice that the conference winner won’t have a losing record overall.

Division winner, not conference. At least hopefully the Cowboys won’t win the conference.

Well, the top of the NFC looks to be pretty strong: there are six NFC teams with only one or two losses, with at least one in each of the four divisions. But, that said, beyond those six teams, the remaining 10 NFC teams are all sub-.500 at this point.

True, but much of the 1990s NFC was really just the Packers, Niners, Cowboys, Giants and Eagles too.

That’s pretty much the only way to have a strong conference; some powerful teams beating up everyone else. That’s practically the definition of a strong conference. Somebody has to lose for someone to win.

In theory you could have every NFC team always beating every AFC team but I think you’d still need it to be top-heavy within the conference to have any teams really be dominant.

Fair points; based on what I can see in the expanded standings on ESPN.com, those top six NFC teams (Dallas, Green Bay, Tampa Bay, New Orleans, Arizona, LA Rams) happen to be a combined 13-0 against the AFC so far.

I just saw a story on the NFL subreddit that Aaron Rodgers has tested positive for COVID-19, and will be out for Sunday’s game against the Chiefs. Haven’t seen confirmation on this elsewhere yet.
