Huh, I would have picked the same top three (Cowboys, Niners, Packers), but then the Vikings as the fourth, not including either the Giants or Eagles. Looking up the Vikings records, they posted 7 winning seasons, two 8-8 seasons and only one single losing record of 6-10 in 1990.
I think of the Giants as an 80s and 2000s team, slumping in the 90s and 2010s. In the 90s they had a mere three winning seasons with only two brief playoff appearances. In my mind the decade between Parcells leaving after the 1990 Superbowl win to Jim Fassel guaranteeing that they’d make the playoffs during the 2000 season, it was just a decade of suck.
The Eagles I think of as a 2000s team with Andy Reid and Donovan McNabb. Looking at their 90s records, I see they had four 10-6 seasons and an 11-5 season, but the other five were 8, 7, 6, 5, and 3 win seasons. They never advanced to the conference championship until McNabb and Reid went to three in a row from 2001 to 2003.
Everyone else looks to be worse even than the Eagles and Giants, so really I’m offering the most minor of quibbles.
Wouldn’t he be contagious even after ten days from now? He ought to miss the game against the Seahawks too after that.
Regardless, the Packers’ No. 1 seed is now in jeopardy. The Cards, Bucs, Rams and Cowboys will be nipping hard on their heels. Green Bay might fall all the way to the No. 4 seed by the time Rodgers returns.
Odell Beckham Jr won’t practice today as the Browns ‘excuse’ him. It’s getting messy.
Henry Ruggs III was going 156 mph, was twice the legal limit and had a loaded gun in the car when he killed a woman yesterday. Don’t see how he ever plays again even if he gets the most generous plea bargain ever.
Definitely will be an interesting test case to see the threshold that gets you blackballed from the league. A lot of people thought Mike Vick wouldn’t play again, but we saw how that turned out. May depend on how long he goes to jail for.
Plus, I think dog fighting is a bigger PR hit then a DUI (even with a death). For the latter, a lot of people (especially older, pre-MADD folks) will have at least a little “there but for the grace of God go I”.
That he’ll likely be in prison until after he has aged out of the league is another issue, of course.
Wasn’t the dog fighting sold as ‘southern culture?’
I despise MADD and their not so obvious attempts to reinstate prohibition. I don’t want someone’s life ruined with a DUI after a couple glasses of champagne at a wedding reception, but driving 156 MPH at a .16 BAC with a loaded gun and killing someone isn’t going to get sympathy from 99.99% of people.
When asked previously if he was vaccinated, he said he’s been “immunized”. He also petitioned the league for approval of some alternate treatment instead of vaccination, but was denied.
If his “immunized” status doesn’t mean vaccinated, then yeah, he’s been breaking protocol all season and is up shit creek (at least for the next 10 days).
My sister-in-law is this way; she’s run a small dog adoption group for decades, and she gets worked up over animal cruelty in a way that dwarfs how she feels about person-on-person violence. She was quite vocal about her belief that Vick should have faced the death penalty, or at least been incarcerated for far longer than he was; she also was outraged that he wasn’t banned from the NFL after he’d served his time.
The Packers are reportedly set to sign Blake Bortles (a name I thought I’d never hear again), either as a possible competitor with Jordan Love for the starting role, or as a backup backup.
