NFL 2023: Wildcard Weekend

OK, the refs just missed a HUGE call against Miami.

I wish I were watching. I like both teams.

No, they’re missing blatant Miami penalties. Recently on back to back plays. Missed a pass interference then a very obvious cut block on the subsequent punt.

Even the announcers are calling out the officials, which you don’t hear that often. It’s along the lines of, “I hate to bring up the officials but you can’t watch this and not do so.”

Andy Reid was so mad I thought his frozen mustache was going to snap off.

They just showed a barechested fan cheering. In this weather. Not a smart move, dude.

I hope streaming of live sports never takes hold here in Canada. No Peacock here, but I do have four or five cable sports channels, and am happily watching the game on TSN.

The Toronto Blue Jays did try a streaming a couple of games last season on Apple+. It went about as well as could be expected: that is, it was not well-received at all.

Florida man?

Deep pass attempt on third and short to a receiver who had a step on his defender, but failed to haul it in. Not sure of game tone, probably early in the 2nd.

My wife pointed him out and I just said, “Alcohol.”

Keep the info coming, I want to know whats going on!

I’m actually in Miami this week and the game here is on the regular NBC station. Neither team is looking stellar at this point and the refs are missing calls for both sides. They’re not in the bag, they’re incompetent.

Is anyone else that’s watching the game having trouble with Peacock’s service? Mine has had significant problems with buffering that started during the commercial break after the Chiefs second field goal.

Miami gets the ball back down 16-7 at their 30 yard line with 14 seconds and two time outs. They’ll receive the ball starting the second half and the commentators assumed they would kneel it out but nope. They got one good toss into KC territory and had 6 seconds left, but the next play Tua had to throw it away, plus Miami got a hands to the face penalty and were pushed back 10 yards. 2 seconds to go they try a Hail Mary which is almost intercepted. End of the half.

Well, it’s halftime right now, so you’re not missing much. Talking heads showing highlights and offering analysis.

Currently KC 16, Miami 7.

I’ve seen rumblings on Twitter about that, but my stream has been perfect, no issues at all.

Miami is lucky that KC isn’t up a lot more. KC just not capitalizing on opportunities. As depleted as Miami is on defense, KC could be scoring at will even in these conditions.

My prediction is that KC is going to pull ahead in the second half. It might not feel like the Texans/Browns game but I expect the game to be out of reach by the 4th quarter. That’s what my crystal ball says.

ETA: Zero issues with Peacock for me. Maybe it varies by location/carrier.

So Mahomes is upset because his receiver missed what should have been a long TD pass. If that’s your definition of apoplectic, okay.

No issues here either. Except that my laptop is about 20 seconds ahead of my TV, which is about 10 seconds behind the other TV.

Interesting fact: at this moment Miami is 0-9 on third down conversion attempts over the past 2 games.

Dang… Mahomes almost got a TD and ended a run on the 2 with a helmet-to-helmet hit. And he breaks his helmet with a huge hole.

He plays 2 plays before the officials stop the game and make him change his helmet.

KC can’t punch it in yet again and settle for another 3. They just transform into mediocrity once they get to the goal line.

Unbelievable. 5 red zone opportunities. 1 TD, 4 FGs. Miami still very much in the game.

This backup helmet doesn’t fit Mahomes very well. He keeps messing with it on the sideline.

Miami again fails to convert on a third down but go for it on fourth and inches and get it.

But Tua gets sacked on 2nd down after that. They are struggling on both sides of the ball. Get no yards on 3rd down so they’re now 0-11 on conversions and punt. Good grief Dolphins.
