I have seen rugby, and it is not quite like that. There is just something about it that does not quite work for me.
The Browns have won 5 games doing the same thing each time. Get behind in a low scoring game, play pretty decent defense, pull one good offensive drive out of your ass in the late 4th quarter, barely win.
“The Browns have won 5 games” isn’t something I expected to hear this season, let alone by Week 7.
Miami isn’t going winless this year!
And a win against the Jets is always sweet,
Since they suck, I don’t get their games (I’m near Tampa, so an alternative market). I haven’t seen them at all this year, but I was happy to see highlights showing that their rookie receivers caught touchdowns. It’s a very young team, and I’m very hopeful that they have the roots of a good one in the years to come,
Congratulations to the Chargets for being the last winless team.
Agreed. McCarthy continued right where he left off last week, slinging it downfield and connecting. He looks like a real quarterback to me. What an incredible rollercoaster this season has been so far. I had such high hopes for Dart, then zero hope for Winston, but now right back to high hopes for McCarthy.
Interesting unnecessary roughness call on Skattebo for lowering his head. I feel like that might be more of a Skattebo rule than a league-wide problem they’re addressing. Stop targeting people! heh. On the plus side, he ran wild: 17 for 124 with a touchdown.
Bummer to see the kicker have another bad day. Giants looked like the better team all day; it shouldn’t have been that close. Those two missed field goals would have helped.
Malachi Fields looking good across from Nabers. Lots of young talent. And how about Deante Banks completely erasing Nico Collins from the game, holding him to 2 catches for 6 yards. (Much to the chagrin of my fantasy team.)
Nice way to head into the bye week. Will be interested to see how they do coming out of the bye at Philly then hosting Washington. Giants have a chance to really take control of the division.
Another week of Brissett. Cards have a very late Week 14 bye.
Well, sure, when your alternatives are Gardner Minshew and Carson Beck. He’s almost certainly the best they’ve got. Change for change sake rarely “fixes” teams when the issues are much more fundamental than the guy who happens to be under center
In the last two weeks the Ravens have been outscored in the second halves 50-0, maintaining their league lead in most blown double digit leads (going back several seasons). I used to think it was a Harbaugh problem (he of the division-leading Giants now) but it’s clear that there is some other sinister juju going on.
And it might be time to move on from Butker - not a good year in general for NFL kickers.
The Colts, sitting at 2-5, and having fired their GM last week, are now clearly in tear-down mode.
Today, they traded DE DeForest Buckner to the 49ers (his original team) for a fourth-round pick next year, and G Quenton Nelson to the Seahawks for a 2027 third-rounder and 2028 fifth rounder.
Nelson has been named to the Pro Bowl in each of his eight previous seasons, and was a second-team All-Pro the last two seasons. Buckner has been named to All-Pro teams twice, and the Pro Bowl three times.
Looks like the writing is on the wall for Shane Steichen and Danny Dimes.
Steichen probably gets at least another month give or take. Maybe not to Thanksgiving, though. But maybe the rest of the season depending on the results but it seems unlikely. They’ll want some stability at least through the trade deadline coming up in 2 weeks. After that, they’re going to want to start their coaching search as soon as possible.
Jones, of course, they retain through the season but they’re currently sitting on a top 10 pick and clearly have no faith in Richardson. I’m not sure about the 2027 QB rookie class, though. Bit of an odd college season so far.
In some disgusting yet head-scratching news, Kansas City has signed kicker Justin Tucker, who has not played since the 2024 season as he served a 10 game suspension in 2025 for sexual misconduct allegations by massage therapists and couldn’t find any suitors in the back half of the season.
Tucker’s career numbers might be good but his performance had already been shaky his last couple seasons with Baltimore. Else, why would a team with a history of looking the other way for performing players have dumped him instead of standing behind him? Pretty questionable signing from both on field performance and moral standpoints
Objectively, speaking as someone who has been a fan/student of the kicking game for most of my life, Tucker was the best kicker of his generation, and probably one of the best kickers in league history. However, as @Great_Antibob notes, he wasn’t particularly good in 2024; he hasn’t played in a year and a half (having been suspended for 10 games last year), and he’s now 36.
A few posts ago, I described the Packers as being in Kicking Hell, and the Chiefs seemed to have decided that they were, too (and Harrison Butker has been kind of a pain in the ass, from a PR standpoint, in recent years, becoming very vocal about his conservative views).
Two years ago, the Packers had signed kicker Brandon McManus, who had similarly been under suspicion of sexual assault; the league had concluded its investigation, and once he had reached a settlement with his accusers, the Packers immediately signed him. McManus shored up the Packers’ kicking game that season, but as a fan of the team, it did make me feel queasy.
Given that they just signed a sexual predator, I’m going to guess that the Chief’s problem with Butker had nothing to do with his off-field activities.
Jones, of course, they retain through the season but they’re currently sitting on a top 10 pick and clearly have no faith in Richardson. I’m not sure about the 2027 QB rookie class, though. Bit of an odd college season so far.
Actually, i believe the Jets are sitting on a top 10 pick thanks to the Sauce Gardner trade. So the Colts are effectively tanking for better later round picks.
Good point. I always forget to check if a team’s picks are their own
They’re tanking for cap space and flexibility for future years, then. If they pick up a few more draft picks from the trades, they might even be able to trade up into the top part of the first round if they saw anybody they really liked. Or if not, they’ll have a lot of picks to build a new core.
Should there be a week 8 thread now?
Yep. My bad. Thought I had already done so. Damn senior moments.
