I’m pretty sure it was for the choking sign he gave toward Kaepernick.
Your youtube video seems to have been pulled.
Here’s a picture that tells a completely different story: http://simmqb.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/sherman-crabtree-960.jpg. Without knowing what was said out there, it’s really impossible to say whether Crabtree, Sherman, both, or neither was really being unsportsmanlike in this exchange. But it’s at least plausible to think Sherman tried to be classy with Crabtree, got snubbed, and was pissed off when that interview rolled around. (But even if not, his interview was still a thousand times better than the typical post-game yawner.)
Here is the same video. Hope it’s still there!
Q13 here in Seattle has a audio that isn’t online yet. Sherman was miked up for the NFL films and they have the interaction on tape with audio. In that audio he says ‘helluv a game, helluv a game’ and then Crabtree pushed him. They played the audio but I can’t find it online yet. So I think your plausible explanation seems very probable now.
Well I did find this bad version someone taped–but I imagine a better version will be available soon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irsNUceR5Vw
Wow, I thought for sure Sherman trash talked him but in that NFL.com video (same as youtube but better quality) it was pretty darn clear he said “helluva game, helluva game”.
I am stunned.
I’ve just completely done a 180 on this thing.
Crabtree’s the complete asshole not Sherman (at least for this incident).
I’ve been meaning to check up on this and just now got the time.
Your analysis that he was “flat out beat” has got to be the most inaccurate description of a play I think I’ve ever seen written down.
This is the video I’m looking at from 0:18 to 0:24. They couldn’t have been more even/covered until Sherman slowed to leap and make the play.
Your football credibility just went down the toilet, LOL.
Why would you post something so stupid that is so easy for us to check up on?
You’re completely ignoring the fact that they are both complete assholes.
I’m sure they’re both glad just to be talked about. Aside from that discount daaa-ble check guy, the also-rans are almost completely vanished.
Okay, the impression I got from that one (and why was it the non-football fan who had to get the ball rolling on this, hmm? ) was that for whatever reason, Sherman really, really really hates Crabtree.
Not the 49ers organization. Not receivers in general. Not the forward pass rules. Just that one guy.
And this after Crabtree shoved him in the face.
Maybe I’m just cynical after all the insults I’ve had to put up with in my life, but I’m getting a very strong “world’s smallest violin” vibe from this. Way I see it, if you talk trash and fail to back it up, and that failure knocks your team out of the Super Bowl, getting called out on it is the least of your concerns.
I mean, geez, it’s not like he dissed Tim Tebow or anything.
On a more positive note, Seahawks fullback Derrick Coleman, the first legally deaf offensive player in the NFL, received this letter from a young fan:
And responded with his own handwritten response:

ETA: I really like his Duracell commercial:
It’s incredibly hard not to root for a guy like that. Damn you! Just when I thought I have my rooting interests locked up with Manning versus Carroll and Sherman, you go and post this!
The following presents other facets of Sherman: NFL Football Highlights, Clips & Analysis | NFL.com
The part where he goes anonymously asking members of the public who is the best cornerback in the NFL? Hilarious. And he takes it well when people say it isn’t him.
And now those girls are going to the Super Bowl: http://gma.yahoo.com/blogs/abc-blogs/seahawks-39-derrick-coleman-surprises-hearing-impaired-girls-131922672--abc-news-topstories.html
Thanks for the Derrick Coleman stories; it’s so great to hear about such a wonderful human being. Actually two of them I guess as the little girl was pretty wonderful too.
