Super Bowl XLVII: Seahawks vs. Broncos

So it’s Denver against Seattle in the Super Bowl. Talking points:
Manning and the cold.
Manning vs. the Seattle secondary
Wilson vs. the depleted Denver secondary.

All I know is it should be an interesting 2 weeks for me. Can anyone offer any thoughts on being in enemy territory leading up to the game?

Manning gets his second ring, and calls it a career. He’ll be in the broadcast booth next year if he wants it, and a first ballot Hall of Famer.

Don’t forget: quarterback of yesterday vs. quarterback of tomorrow - AKA pocket-passer vs. “athletic” quarterback.

Russel Wilson isn’t really a “duel threat” quarterback. He can run, but only if he has to. The Seahawks don’t design running plays for him like are done for guys like Kapernick or RGIII. At least as far as I can tell.

Wilson is more like John Elway when he was young. A passer, but with good enough wheels to elude tacklers by running.

I guess they will have to sell pot at the game?

One of the most fascinating things to watch will be the weather, which could have a huge impact on the game, especially with the differences between these two teams.

Is that medically legal in NJ? Because I’d totally be there, man.

I agree - as of late, he just hasn’t been the runner that we saw last year. But I think we’ll still see this storyline.

Neither team will win, they will just play until one team sinks the other. And given the date, who knows how many times over they will have to play it.

The Broncos scored 26 points today against the 26th ranked defense. The Seahawks have scored 23 against some of the best defenses in the NFL in their two playoff games.

Wilson will have an easier time running against the Bronco’s defense than he has against some of the best lately.

The Broncos had drives of over 7 minutes- on purpose. They intended to keep Brady off the field, and it worked. I bet they have a different game plan vs. the Seahawks, and I bet it works.

Btw, Manning has stated publicly that he’ll come back next year if his neck passes the x-ray test.

Basically not turning on ESPN for the next two weeks, and then rooting on Russell Wilson to win as the only key party involved in this game that I particularly like. That said, with the two week break and everything else that goes into the Super Bowl, predicting it at all is an exercise in frustration.

Richard Sherman guaranteed that I won’t be rooting for Seattle even if, as a 49ers fan, I would have had any inclination to do so.

Well, on the flip side, I also look forward to seeing the Hawks turn Peyton into Pizza. Imagine how he will look after they pick Red Bryant up off of him.

I bet the Seahawks hope it includes a lot of passing.

I hope no players sustain any significant injuries in the SB, Manning in particular because of his neck problems.

Russell Wilson is no John Elway.

I’d compare him more to Fran Tarkenton than to Elway.

My Super Bowl predictions:

  1. Stupid, over-hyped commercials.
  2. Lots of stoned fans (for both teams) watching from home.
  3. A football game may break out in the middle of all the hoopla.

Interesting factoid: this will be the 54th game between the Seahawks and Broncos (excluding pre-season). Kind of an unusual situation. The two teams battled each other as AFC-W rivals for 25 years, playing each other twice each year except for 1977, in which the expansion Seahawks played every team in the AFC one time. Since switching to the NFC, they have played 3 interconference games. The one time they met in the post-season, in 1983, Seattle beat Denver in the Kingdome (at the time, there were 3 division champs and two wild-cards, this was the wild-card-elimination game – in, IIRC, the strike-shortened season).

The winner of the Super Bowl is going to be…

Omaha

I dont see any way that the Broncos keep this competitive. Their offencive line is depleated and so is their secondary. When they’ve played teams that hit Manning a lot he’s played his worst games of the season. Really their only hope is that Manning and his receivers are good enough against the Seattle pass rush and DBs that they can kind of keep up with the holes Lynch is going to put through their defence. Of course with Von out the Broncos are a better rush defence.

in the end ill say seahawks 28 broncos 14.

Of couse that is subject to change if half of the seahawks get arrested for.possession in the next two weeks.
