Richard Sherman might be one to Crabtree.
For what it’s worth, the Vegas odds opened at even and then dropped to Denver -3 after heavy early betting for the broncos.
Even though I was pulling for Seattle in this game, I have to agree with you. Sherman’s behavior was that of a total prick. (And anyway, I was already planning to root for the Broncs!)
nitpik: it’s Super Bowl XLVIII
Seattle 24 Broncos 20
Not true … there has never been a tied game in the Super Bowl
February 2nd in Jersey? This should be interesting the way the weather has been going. I hope they don’t have cold weather vortex lol
Tail gating parties have already been outlawed in the parking lot, but who from Denver or Seattle would tailgate there anyway?
Denver Broncos 44 to Seattle Seahawks 23
Seattle didn’t beat San Francisco … San Francisco beat San Francisco
another great game for Manning to end his career with
Meh. That describes the vast majority of NFL games. Few teams win outright - they simply make fewer mistakes.
The few exceptions are the teams and games we talk about a lot.
Doesn’t matter to me. I’ll be in Vegas for the weekend.
This might be the first event in sporting history where the “friendly wager” between the states’ governors involves nugs of choice weed.
I’m rooting fro 48" of snow to hit NJ starting at 2 a.m. on SB Sunday morning. I plan then to listen to all the wailing from the NFL and the networks about a possible rescheduling.
Sorry about the whoosh thing, I was alluding to the movie Groundhog Day (“sinking” refers to smoking a bong). Even so, the fact that there has never been a tied/OT game in the SB absolutely means it could never happen
44 points on this Seahawks team? Heh. Not terribly likely, though, I suppose remotely possible.
 Seattle just sat back and watched SF beat themselves  All those ints were just accidents  14 yards for Frank Gore, he was just having a bad day
Keep ranking on Seattle, that is what the Seahawks want.
Why root for that?
Because it was stupid to schedule the Superbowl for a February date in New Jersey in an outdoor stadium. If it goes well, Philadelphia, Chicago, etc. will want their turns.
It’s going to be like watching a Roman legion bump uglies with a barbarian horde. I predict an ugly, brutal, high scoring game. If it’s bitter cold, Manning will seize up and Seattle takes it. If it’s just snow I think Denver gets the edge for talent, diversity, and number of quality receivers. If it’s a nice day Denver will be pulling fans out of the audience to fill in as substitutes on offense.
I agree with this. Sorry Northern cities, the Super Bowl is not for you.
This makes me think of a line from the movie Black Sunday, about a terrorist attack on the Super Bowl.
An Isreali agent, played by Robert Shaw, asks “Can’t they just cancel it?” It’s known there’s an attack plot.
Game officials react in horror. “Cancel the Super Bowl? That would be like canceling Christmas!”
Not this again. This reputation is almost entirely undeserved; it’s mostly road games late in the season and in the playoffs. It’s not surprising that he has a middling record (something like 0.500 overall) in those games.
They say the same thing about Drew Brees and Bill Barnwell did a thorough job of debunking that on Grantland.
In Super Bowl XXIV, the 49ers put up 55. After the Broncos topped so many offense records, finishing with the highest score in Super Bowl history would be a great finish.
This is how I think it will end up. I like the Seahawks as a team, and Peyton Manning as Peyton Manning. Can’t get worked up for or against either side.
Not necessarily.
Something that has gone largely unnoticed is that Denver’s defense, much like the Giants in their two recent championship runs, has tightened up considerably over the last month. Their run defense has been particularly stout.
In their last 3 games, the Broncos shut out the Raiders for the first half before easing off the gas; shut down the hot Chargers offense and running game until the 4th quarter; and kept the Pats out of the end zone for 50 minutes (and shut down their hot running game), despite losing their best DB.
Ignore the poor full-season defensive stats - this defense is hot now.
Seattle has a rather massive hill to climb to win this game. The Broncos head coach and at least two players have experience in the Show, the Seahawks are a young team (one of their colors is green, after all), only a handful of the assistant coaches have some playing experience in one. Looking pretty good for Denver, though I would not lay money on them if the line exceeds -3.
