Can I just say, if I were going to have any more children, Limas would be on the short list of names.
Limas.

Limas.
In my view, it was either Limas or Devin Thomas, and Limas is the more polished, better fit with Lee Evans, type receiver. It’s just a question of health and whether he’ll contribute immediately.
Thomas is a one-year wonder, too.
I’d never invest that kind of money in him, but I’m sure somebody will.
cough Akili Smith cough. Of course the Vikings and Lions still have to pick and they’re not exactly the sharpest knives in the empty drawer.
The Broncos need help on the line and Clady is thought to be the type of player who will fit the Broncos scheme. Branden Albert is another option and he’s skyrocketing up everyone’s draft board but I think the Broncos will stick with the guy they’ve been targeting. They probably feel fortunate Clady is still there, even though I personally view him as a potential bust.
Busts aren’t possible in the Denver line system.
“Can you dive at someone’s knees? Good- put on this jersey.”
LOL.
I missed my Bengals pick, and I disagree with the poster that picked Rivers as LB isn’t as much of a need as DLine or possibly the surprise RB pick here
what about NE needing a CB? They lost Samuel!
Am I violating thread rules by not making a pick and disagreeing with who represented my favorite team’s mock pick?
Nope, would be pretty dull without discussion. As for the Pats, they don’t reach for players. They take the BPA always. There’s just no CB on the board that is worth the #7 pick and it’s a remarkably deep class so they will probably get one in the 2nd round without any trouble. Obviously a trade down is the ideal outcome.
I definitely considered Mendenhall here… I know you guys think Rudi has just about run out of gas.
DL is definitely a bigger need than LB for the Kitties, but is there a tackle on the board that you couldn’t get a roughly equal value for in the second round? Rivers is the sort of guy that could come onto the team and repeat Odell Thurman’s rookie year of a few years ago. And, most importantly, the guy apparently spends his off-field time escorting little old ladies across the street. The Bengals need a player who will be able to play up to his potential 16 games a year, not sit in lockdown.
At 13, the Panthers need help in a number of positions, including RB, D-Line, and D-back, but their most glaring need is on the O-line.
The pick: Branden Albert, OG Virginia
**Omniscent ** gets a long range weapon and takes whoever it is that pulls the trigger on the moves for the Bears and drags his body off to a dark corner where he skins it and wears his flesh as a suit.
The Bears take Rashard Mendenhall. They need a back. They can get Flacco or whoever else is available in the second, third, or the 334943652436545th round.
Best Players still available: Chris Williams OT Vanderbilt, Jeff Otah OT Pittsburgh, Derrick Harvey DE Florida, Mike Jenkins CB South Florida, Jerod Mayo LB Tennessee, Aquib Talib DB Kansas, Philip Merling DE Clemson.
Ideally, the Bears trade down towards the end of this round and take Jonathan Stewart. That’s just me, though.
Good pick. Back around the time of the combine, Albert was considered to be the best OG in the nation, but was, in most mock drafts, going to the Steelers at 23. Then the coaches and GMs saw his versatility and moving him to OT became a possibly and, since then, he’s been rocketing up draft boards. My dream of the Packers trading up to grab him around 20 or so has gone up in flames. Curses, foiled again.
Detroit Lions
In the post-Martz era, the coaches want to emphasize the run more (they could hardly emphasize it less), so the Lions will be looking for a road grader on the right and a running back (where is Kevin Jones now?). I think, had Mendenhall fallen, they’d scoop him up, but there is still a fair amount of need on the O Line too. They also lost tub o’ goo Shaun Rogers, so they also need to shore up their D line. Either Jeff Otah, who’s a powerful run blocker and developing pass blocker or Derrick Harvey are going to be the pick here.
Detroit Lions select Jeff Otah, OT, Pittsburgh.
The Cardinals, needing yet another corner now that Antrel Rolle is moving to safety, and prone to taking local players, select the pot-laced physical freak from Kansas, CB Aquib Talib.
Ke-vin Smith, running back, UCF! Ke-vin Smith, running back, UCF!
You know, I’d be disappointed if you didn’t say this for the Lions.
Can I just say I like the juxtaposition of the phrase “pot laced” and “Kevin Smith”. I thought for sure you wanted to draft Silent Bob.
Much as I hate to wish a fate like the Lions on him (after all, we know what happened to the last back from a Florida school to go there), I think he makes the most sense in that offense. He’d be at his best behind an offensive line that doesn’t run-block well, because his best skill is squeezing five yards out of a play that should be a two-yard loss.
I don’t think the trenchcoat would go down well with the NFL uniform-Nazis.
I know you have a boner for Kevin Smith, but how do you pass up Jonathan Stewart?
The Vikings, in desperate need of a QB, reach for Joe Flacco, Delaware.
