NFL Playoff Thread 2026

That’s a very saepe-ent joke.

Where is the Pro Bowl thread at?

(I’d make it but I’m lazy.)

I imagine there’s as much interest in participating in a Pro Bowl thread as there is in watching it

Yeah, there won’t be any Seahawks in it, so I have even less interest than usual.

I thought there might be a bit of drama about who is going, but I’m not sure people care that much.

It’s probably too early for a Super Bowl thread too.

I can’t find anywhere to watch a replay of the entire Pats-Broncos game. Just highlights. Any suggestions?

I could be wrong, but I think they only place you’re going to get that is like The NFL Network, or whatever official NFL option there is. Or wait a year and it’ll be on YouTube.

Looking at NFL Network’s schedule, they’re replaying the Patriots-Broncos game tomorrow (Wednesday) evening, at 7pm (Central, maybe?).

Where do you normally go for full games? it makes it sound like you have an easy time finding full games posted but not this one for whatever reason.

NFL+ premium at $15/mo is the easiest way to see full games, you can get them condensed, original broadcast, or with all-22 cameras (limited games, maybe?) which is pretty cool

Edit: I should add that I normally subscribe but the fact that they put commercials on redzone this year made me not do it. So I’m not sure if anything is changed, and I can’t remember if the all-22 camera was all games or just select games. I would imagine a playoff game would have all the premium extras.

I found the commercials on redzone to be very unobtrusive. Usually they were short and used only half of the screen’s real estate while the other half was still showing a play. Really didn’t bother me that much, but YMMV, of course.

I agree that they weren’t bad, but as a matter of principle I won’t pay for something that also shows me ads whenever possible (I’m willing to always pay for ad free tiers, but that’s not an option here). Plus the way of enshittification is that it starts off not too badly and then gets worse and worse, and and I think as a consumer the best time to let it be known that you won’t tolerate it is at the start.

A little early for the offseason thread, I just watched an (annoying) youtube video talking about the Giants’ cap situation, which was presented as quite promising.

First, Giants currently only have $7.8m cap space (20th), but a negligible $216k in dead cap (2nd least.)

Start by extending Dexter Lawrence (save +$12.8m) and restructuring Brian Burns (+$14.1m) and Andrew Thomas (+$11.3m). I like the sound of all three, and hopefully those numbers are possible.

Then cut Graham Gano (+$4.5m), the kicker who is always injured, and James Hudson (+$5.3m), that OL who committed 4 penalties in one drive vs the Cowboys week 2. Daboll damn near had an aneurysm. How Hudson wasn’t cut that week I don’t know, but apparently he is still on the team. Also cut James Board ($2.1), a backup ILB who got season-ending injured in week 2.

Already that’s just shy of $50m, and the video goes on to suggest cutting Devin Singletary ($5.2m for an RB3 is a little high) and Bobby Okereke (+$9.0m) – doh! I’ve always liked Okereke, but I could see Harbaugh going in a different direction for the starting MLB.

That’s already enough cap space to make some decent moves. Let’s see how well Joe Schoen (and Harbaugh) manage this offseason. Credit to Schoen for having almost no dead cap, at least.

When do roster movies start happening? Monday after the Superbowl?

The “league year” technically starts on March 11th. That’s the date on which the signing of free agents whose contracts have just expired, and making trades, can begin.

Teams were able to start signing certain free agents (probably guys who were unemployed, as opposed to those who weren’t on an expiring contract) as of January 5th, and they’ve been able to cut guys pretty much since then, too (for example, the Packers cut Trevon Diggs on the 20th).

The full “NFL calendar”:

Harbaugh is no dummy and I think he knew he’d have a chance to remold this team. They have a couple of young, very talented (and cheap for now) pieces on offense to build around (particularly Dart). Plus a very early draft pick. If what I’ve read is correct, they mostly have a normal pick each round, except they’re missing a third rounder (traded to Houston), and their seventh round pick turned into a second sixth round pick via trade. Add in some potential compensatory picks and they might be good to get a lot in the draft.

Alternatively, use those picks to trade for guys to fill holes after shedding dead weight. Either way, they have something to work with.

If the Seahawks win… Who wants to buy a Super Bowl winner? Taking bids now.

This just seems weird to me.

Huh, I wonder what a super bowl win would be worth in actual dollars in this situation.

Well, per the article, a sale was expected (and overdue) because of its unconventional ownership status, being held in trust after the death of Paul Allen. The status of the team is kind of irrelevant; it’s just that the timing is odd. And since the State of Washington is set to get a cut of the proceeds, the sale of a championship team produces a greater public good than if the Hawks were in the basement.

I presume there are a variety of conditions and attachments and riders that obstruct the new owners from moving the team, as well.

I’m not at all shocked that it’s up for sale; I’m a bit surprised Jody kept it so long. I’m just surprised it’s being sold now.

Exactly.

I really hope so. I also think it would be insane for someone to move it. This is a football town; this isn’t like the Sonics when they were taken to Oklahoma. I’m not actually worried about that. I’m just worried about having a bad owner. Seattle hasn’t always been great, in fact it has only been solidly good since Pete Carroll got hired, but Paul Allen and Jody after him have been fantastic, and you hear so many horror stories for other teams, I worry about eventually ending in a crappy situation.

Bad players, bad GM, bad HC, those can be replaced. You have a bad owner, and you may be stuck in mediocrity for decades.

(shudders in Dan Snyder)

The Celtics were put on the market right after winning the 2025 NBA title.

That still makes more sense than the week before the championship.
