If the weather allows for a game in which passing offenses can succeed, I agree with you. But my point was that teams with strong running games and/or short passing games should be able to beat the Packers in normal Lambeau January weather. A combination of wind and cold could be disastrous to the Packers’ precision passing attack. Looking at the NFC teams in this year’s playoffs, I think the Packers would have a better chance of winning on the road versus the three teams I mentioned.
I don’t believe that there is much of anything that can stop that offense. Its amazing how little respect a team that won 19 in a row is getting. Best team in the nfl and rarely loses at home. Not sure why it will be different now.
They still are the experts faves to get to the final.
They lost to Kansas City. That’s the Kansas City Chefs. Really?
Certainly; by far the most popular choice in the Super Bowl prediction contest here, too. But they are not in any way, shape, or form invincible. Again, they lost to Kansas City.
They had one mediocre game out of 20 and it hurt them. It in no way is presednt for them to lose an important home playoff game.
As a native Clevelander, I’m used to having to settle for rooting for a second (or third or fourth…) choice. After the Browns, my list goes
2: Steelers (my family comes from western PA)
3: Eagles (I went to undergrad in Philadelphia)
4: Packers (I like the whole community-owned thing)
5: Bengals (at least it’s my home state)
6: Seahawks (a lot of folks around here are from the Seattle area)
Then most of the rest of the teams, based on geography, who the folks I’m watching with are rooting for, and who’s the underdog (roughly, midwest teams before northeast teams before Pacific Coast teams before southern teams, and I root with the folks I’m with, not against them).
Then we have Atlanta (because I really don’t like Atlanta sports fans), then Denver (the Broncos kept the Browns out of the Superbowl just too many times in my formative years), then the Ravens (which should be obvious, for a Clevelander), taking up the bottom of the list.
After tonight’s game, I’m rooting for the Broncos. Dammit Tebow if you’re gonna steal my Steeler’s chances at the bowl then you damn well better take that all the way to a championship because then at least we didn’t get beaten by such a god awful team.
I guess I’d say Denver now that the Bears failed to qualify for the playoffs. Denver is my dad’s favorite team, and they also have Tebow. I’m definitely no fan of his preaching, but he played for the Florida Gators.
I think I’m rooting for the Broncos to get crushed by the Patriots, and then Patriots to get crushed by the Ravens/Texans, and then the Ravens/Texans to get absolutely demolished in the Superbowl.
This would make the Steelers the loseriest losers in the playoffs. heh.
Well…as torn up as I am over the Steelers losing (in that I hate the Steelers, but I also don’t care for the Broncos and HATE Tebow…(yeah yeah, getting in on the trendy Tebow hate)) overall it’s a good thing, because the Patriots will have a much easier time playing against Denver. They played them once, and they discovered their tricks early and put a stop to Tebow…and after the last two games, the Pats have proved that their defense IS able to learn from their mistakes! Albeit after a slow first half/quarter…
But now that the Lions are out, which I would have liked win it if the Pats didn’t, (as others have said, only for the story factor…going from 0-16 to a SB win in just three years…but even though they lost, going from 0-16 to making the playoffs in three years is still impressive.) I don’t have anyone I would actively be ‘rooting’ for.
So, that being said…eh, can’t say I care for anyone who are not the Patriots to win…I wouldn’t care if the Saints won if the Patriots weren’t in the SB (other than being mad the Patriots didn’t make it to the Super Bowl,) so I guess we’ll leave it at that.
I’m a fan of both Texas teams but, realistically, I don’t see the Texans with third stringer T.J. Yates getting past the Ravens.
So Green Bay, because Rodgers’ continued success makes Favre’s legacy even more forgettable, and
The Saints, because they were down for so long and Brees is another one of the good guys.
I want to amend this to say it would be fun to see Denver win one game. And it was. But I want Tebow Time to end in New England next week.
