I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Trent Dilfer finds a way to score a TD in each game. I don’t know how, but it’s usually due to Shannon Sharpe and his mouth, which happens to run faster than he does these days.
Anyway, the defenses will keep both teams honest, and Daliuso and Stover will each kick field goals in the first half. The opening drive of the second quarter will lead the Ravens to score the aforementioned Dilfer-to-Sharpe TD, and the Ray, Goose, and the crew will shut things down afterwards.
I think he was trying to draw some of the media storm onto him. He’s done the same thing all year, but I agree with you that it didn’t work this time. It’s a damn shame, in any event. Dosen’t the media have anything better to do than to rape the bones of a 9 months dead story? Bunch of vultures.
Oh, the game? Ravens 17-3. D shuts down Giants, Stover FG, Dilfer and the O get 1 TD, and special teams or turnovers result in a TD.
Hmm this is a no-brainer actually the Ravens will win. Hmm the score will be 17-9. It should be a good game though. I’ve not watched the superbowl in a good 3 or 4 years simply because I am sick of football and all it’s weirdness but this just might bring me back into it for a little while. Now does anyone wanna talk about a real mans sport like baseball?
I think all the media guys have it wrong. This game will be a blowout. I’m just not sure which way it will go. One team will score a touchdown quickly, stop the other team with good “D” and force a short field. They will then score a field goal or touchdown. This forces the other team to abandon their running game and try for the big play. Neither of these teams are capable of consistently completing a big pass against the other teams “D”. Turnovers will result and the final score looks to be
28-3. I’ll bet the Giants.
The Giants don’t have to great a running game, and the Ravens’ defense has shown itself capable of shutting down great ones (like Tennessee). The Jets tried to utilize an all out passing attack, and came up short. The Giants will fare no better. Ravens 14, Giants 7.
I’m going way out on a limb here, but I predict that during the Super Bowl that C-SPAN’s “Booknotes” program, hosted by Brian Lamb, will get really really low ratings.
Just a slight correction: They’re 15-0 when scoring MORE THAN 6 points this season. So they’ll need to do better than just 2 field goals. And you’re absolutely right, that is an amazing stat.
Thanks for the link, Gazoo, what a steaming load of horse crap. Blah, blah, blah, bleed, bleed bleed. What I have consistantly seen ignored by all the whiney media types, so eager to jump on the “attack Ray Lewis” bandwagon is this- Loller and Baker started the damn fight by hitting one of Lewis’s party over the head with a champaign bottle. They are dead now, and that’s a tragedy, but for God’s sake people, in your rush to nail Ray Lewis to the cross, don’t forget to think, and just once in a while, consider the FACTS of the case, the price Ray Lewis has paid, and spare yourself a second to feel shame before turning off your brain and rushing back to the mob.
This makes me sick. What, are you saying that it was self defense? Let’s see. They didn’t use equal force. They had an opportunity to flee, and didn’t avail themselves of it. Self-defense wouldn’t stand up in a court of law for this case, so I don’t see why you’re even insinuating it. Blame-the-victim techniques are so passe–do women who wear short skirts deserve rape, too?
And as for the price Ray Lewis has paid–what would that be? The $500 fine for obstruction of justice? The ability to go play football for the rest of his career? The ability to wake up and see the morning sunrise, knowing that two innocent men will never be able to do that again, knowing that he knows who killed them and that he will never tell? That’s the worst part. Obviously Ray Lewis knows what happened that night, but it doesn’t matter to him that two men are dead. He WITNESSED A DOUBLE MURDER, for Chrissakes, but prefers to save his own ass and that of his friends rather than doing the right thing. Sad thing is, I don’t even think he threw a punch or even had a knife. He just let his friends do it all, and is now protecting THEM instead of condemning them for the fact that he saw them take two lives.
If you can justify that to yourself, go ahead. I don’t want to pass you in a dark alley anytime soon, though.
No, seriously, if you want us to consider the facts, give us a summary, or even better, a link.
So?? That’s a good excuse for a fistfight, that’s all. Now if you tell me they were the first ones to pull knives, then you’ve told me something relevant. So far, no good.
He was at least tangentially involved in the killing of two men. And he’s paid for this how?
that the Backstreet Boys (who are singing the anthem) and 'NSync (who are doing halftime) will run into each other somewhere behind the scenes, and slap each other to death.
To Drain Bead and RTF: Well, you guys are ripping him a new asshole just like everybody else who has absolutely no idea what happened that night. Hmmmmmmmmmm, what else? Oh yeah, I bet he has constant nightmares of that night. He’ll have to live his entire life with a shadow behind him; Many people will treat him like shit because they think they know something, etc…, Nope, Ray Lewis hasn’t paid any price. ( Please don’t send this to BBQ for two cuss-words)
I hardly ripped my friend weirddave a new asshole there. But on the basis of his own post, there seemed to be little justification for those guys winding up dead with lots of knife holes in them.
I admit that I have no idea of what happened that night; I asked to be educated. What I know so far is that two guys were involved in some sort of altercation with Lewis and his pals, and ended up dead, while Lewis & Co. split the scene. Again, provide me with the facts. Summarize, link, or both.
Dave has justified this on the grounds that one of the dead guys swung a champagne bottle first. I’ve pointed out that that would justify a fistfight, not a stabbing.
Drain Bead, who’s a pretty reliable source IMO, has said that Lewis hasn’t exactly been forthcoming about the details of the altercation. If that’s so, then he damn well should be living the rest of his life under a shadow. He damned well should be treated like shit at every opportunity. (But, being the dangerous guy he is, I bet it doesn’t happen too often.) And if that’s not so, then you had ample opportunity to point that out. But didn’t.
If the ‘facts’ about that night aren’t available because Ray Lewis has kept his mouth conveniently shut, then we are free to consider him an accessory to murder, no matter what the courts ruled: ‘innocent until proven guilty’ applies only to the criminal courts; the rest of us are free to draw the obvious conclusions.
You’re ripping Lewis a new a-hole, not weirddave. (Why did you try to twist my words around?). Lewis is not the smartest man in the world and from the looks of it, he was pretty emotioanlly weak last year. He didn’t have many, if any friends, and he thought the two killers(not proven) were his true friends, so he protected them like many people would protect thier friends. But you still have no evidence that Lewis was a killer or saw anything that night until the Limo just as I have no evidence that says Lewis doesn’t know anything about that night. What I do know is that the court found the defendants not guilty of murder.
