NFL Predictions Thread

My friend saw this thread, but he isn’t register and is too lazy to. He shall reply under my username…

It’s hard to disagree with Playboy Magazine. Pittsburgh and St. Louis sounds good for the Super Bowl. But one loss in the Playoffs means goodbye as well. I expect the Steelers to choke in the postseason once again.

I’ll go over me and my friends’ favorite teams.

Cowboys - it’s hard for them to match last year’s record of 5 wins.

Raiders - this may be the last shot to win it all with their core veterans of Rich Gannon, Tim Brown, and Jerry Rice, though in the past few years, they’ve had a strong running game. Even so, I can’t really see them being a powerhouse without Jon Gruden.

San Francisco 49ers - they do have a tough schedule but they’re being looked upon as a threat now to win every game. They’re not sneaking up on anybody this year but they can still match up with any team. Oh, and ignore the beating they took against the Fun-N-Gun in the preseason in Osaka.

For my Super Bowl picks? The Rams is an easy pick for the NFC. In the AFC? I’m going to go out on a limb and say the Tennessee Titans . Simply put, they were beat up last year. Now they’re healthy. And they essentially have the same team from their postseason years. I see a rematch from Super Bowl 34.

Yes I cut and paste. If I also refer to him as Alphabet the WR

I have to say I like the Bengals Spikes is one hell of a linebacker, and they are an ok team that has had bad luck, bad coaching and Piss poor Nasty QBs. Well, it might not be the QB’s Blake left and then did wonders in the Big Easy.

Yes I know Westbrook broke his wrist. That is going to hamper what production he had since he is going to be WAY behind getting his timing down with who ever throws the rock. I still think Westbrook was going to do his damnest to play nice and produce so he can run to another team with the words “rehabilitated cancer” Much like Glenn is going to try to do in Green Bay.
Oh and I have to cut and paste your name too
Otherwise I want to type Shebiboth instead of ShibbOleth:)

Jets win 16-6.

I had a feeling about this when I was in Latrobe on Tuesday. My friend had to cancel on Monday so we moved the trip to Tuesday, which was a much nicer day anyway. The main things I noticed:

Troy Edwards seems to have impressed the coaches enough to make the first team. He did well in practice, but he made a stupid mistake in the game and cost the team. He also made a nice catch, falling backwards.

I don’t think Kordell has gotten enough work to feel comfortable yet. Four QBs in rotation take up a lot of time, and they aren’t getting enough snaps.

The team seemed to be dogging it through drills. I was watching an afternoon practice, so they may have worked more intensely in the a.m. (I hope.)

Hopefully, Cowher will use this loss and the Patriots games (last season and the upcoming opener) to motivate them into the same or better form as last year.

I have to agree with the ESPN booth team- the first two games will tell a lot about the Steelers this season.

Tampa Bay 24, Pittsburgh 20

Don’t tell anyone chique, but I’m a little excited and optimistic about the new situation. Denny won games, not championships. Last year, he couldn’t even win games. There was enough talent last year to have a better record, I think it came down to coaching. nobody show me this post in January, please.

No, the Rams were not the best team in the NFL last year. If they were, they would have won the Super Bowl.

They didn’t lose on a 48-yard field goal, they lost because their defense couldn’t stop the Patriots from getting into field goal range and their offense couldn’t put 40 large up on the scoreboard.

The Patriots were the best team in the NFL last year. They earned that title when they beat the Rams in the Super Bowl.

The Steelers go undefeated, wipe up the opposition in the playoffs, annihilate the Rams in the Super Bowl, and join the Dolphins as the only undefeated team in history.

The rest of you can go and pack a lunch. :stuck_out_tongue:

WHAT?

Airman Doors I really got to get to know your pharmacist!

Sure the steelers look like the team to beat. But the Steelers undefeated? Not a Chance.

Do you have money by chance to back up such an absurd claim?

Ha, I kiss you Monsieur ReservoirDog! I dream about this every night (hyperbole alert).

Actually, I was quite jazzed to see that the Bucs are playing the Bengals here on September 29. The only bad thing is that I will have to pay over face value for the ticket because the Bengals won’t have slid enough by then for the prices to drop. Last year I was able to buy a seat 10 rows up on the 35 yard line for face value before game time, but it was early December (and a very nice, warm day). The Bengals first 3 games are fairly easy and they can be competitive in their division, although I expect the Steelers to take it.

Osip, the Bungles looked very much their normal old selves in the preseason game against Buffalo last night. The Bills looked good when Bledsoe was in, and sucky otherwise. Frerotte was lost and Akili Smith was a yo-yo. Dillon didn’t play, then Brandon Bennett got hurt and some Keaton dude got handed the rock. He looked pretty strong and had at least one rushing TD. The Alphabet looked good, Warrick still had no heart, and Chad Johnson looked like he was recovering from an injury. Dugans got bad throws from Smith whenever I was watching.

Can’t wait to see my Bucs (against the Dolphins?) on Monday night. I think Ricky Williams will chew them up while he is in, though. But I want to see if Gruden can turn them into an offensive team and Kiffin can still keep the defense fired up.

Yes the Bungs look bad. Alphabet is coming on strong. to bad you need more than 1 WR.

I am interested in how the bucks do this year as well.

It’ll be our secret

Superbowl: Eagles over Steelers

And as I sit watching the pregame for their first preseason game I can tell you with all confidence, the new Browns will win their first (but not second) playoff game this year.

I thought it was worth bumping this back up given that the playoffs are upon us this weekend. And I should note that Ennui’s Super Bowl pick there at the end of the original thread is just about as good as it gets. Except for the last part, which, as fate would have it, contradicts the first.

My arm is hurting from trying to pat myself on the back for these picks.
(yes, I didn’t quote the part about the Steelers whipping the Raiduhs and Pats in weeks one and two. Accidental, trust me…)

Predicted: Falcons 9-7

Actual: Falcons 9-6-1.

I can take pride in that.

Geez, all these people picking the Rams over my Eagles. I’m hurt. I just hope everyone remembers that we beat the Rams with our 3rd string qb.

Superbowl: Eagles vs. Steelers or Raiders. I kinda hope it’s not the Raiders as I don’t really wanna see a repeat of 22 years ago. Although I would love to see them keep throwing short passes so I can see Dawkins or Vincent level them over and over again. Anyway, I can’t make a prediction on who will win the Superbowl because Philly has this long track record of imploding at the end.

The Steelers are toast, and no team with Kordell Stewart playing a significant role will ever win the Big Game. No way they are even making the Super Bowl. I think it’s Raiders or Jets from the AFC, and the Bucs from the NFC.

Have you watched football at all this year?

… well, good thing Kordell Stewart is not playing a significant role right about now, huh?

Which part are you objecting to, mouthbreather? The Kordell part or my predictions? I stand by my predictions, with the caveat that I’m not sure about Philly, since I think that they will bring in McNabb and he’ll be rusty and cost them. But if he plays well, then I change my mind and replace the Bucs with the Eagles.

As for Kordell, Realhoops second or third string is too much for him. Just his presence will bring the team down in big games. Never underestimate the curse of Kordell.
