NFL Predictions - Week 16

RT -

You rock. Been reading Wilbon too?

Very well.

What’ll it be, Sledman? Are you up for:

A. Creating a rhyme-a-day like I did, or

B. Would you rather risk your sig line?

(By the way, Gazoo, the proper spelling is “Viking.” You probably got confused because the Vikings will be kicking some cheesy butts.)

LNO - I know how it feels. Anyone who seriously claims that sports betting isn’t as completely dependent on blind luck as nearly every other form of gambling should be shot. I think that your picks top-down are very good, but with your luck ONE of those high numbers is going to horribly wrong.

Well, at least you’re competing with other bettors on an even field instead of with a bookie, who makes you give 11-10 odds every time you lose. Which seems to me a lot like taking on a champion boxer and spotting him three points. How the hell are you supposed to make money like that?

Latecomer - At least the Cowboys and 49ers actually got championships. What’s the Redskins’ excuse? Don’t get me started on the Vikings (always seem to screw up just enough to not get to the Super Bowl) or Lions (went nowhere with Barry Sanders and haven’t won a big game since about the last World War). I’m not even a fan of either team and their perennial flops just burn me up.

I must say that this thread really depresses me, considering the Eagles have a bye this week.

And, next week, I’ll have to pay someone to be a Bungles fan so I can trash talk with them. :frowning:

How many days until pitchers and catchers report…?

Geez you make one typo…(okay several typos)…

Well- I got my pizzas- I got my beer- I got my remote control- and I’ve got two football games to watch today.

Of course, with my luck, Washington will rally together in praise of Snyder and crush Pittsburgh – and then Andre Rison will be abducted off the field by space aliens and Seattle will win.

This is what breaks my heart. I’ve got three motivations for watching any given game:

  1. As a Vikings fan
  2. As a fantasy football player
  3. As a pool participant

e.g. in the upcoming Indianapolis-Miami game, I want Indianapolis to beat Miami since I feel that Indy is an easier team to beat, and if the Vikings face them in the playoffs, it’ll be better than facing the Dolphins. But then, my opponent has Peyton Manning on his fantasy team, and also Lamar Smith. Thus, as a fantasy player, I want the Colts to win, but with a ground game, and I want the Dolphins to keep it in the air. And then as a pool participant, I want the Dolphins to win, because I think they will and I wagered on them.

I find myself in situations where it’s impossible for me to come out totally happy. One of those three reasons to watch will end up depressing me. Betting with my head, but cheering with my heart.

17-3 at the half, Steelers. This WOULD be the week the streak ends.

Maybe the Skins will come back in the second half… :frowning:

Doubtful. I’m gleefully enjoying this spectacle. The Deadskins are acting like it never rains here in Washington. Jeez.

I’ll risk that sig line and your gonna regret cause we’re the

GREEN BAY PACKERS!!!

Metrodome nothing… PHHTTT!!!

Onward we shall march in our crusade to rid the world of the terrible Viking scourge!!!

BTW… is Red gonna move the team if the only thing the city comes up with is to renovate the Humpty Dome??

Don’t they want to build on campus and share the stadium with the Gophers?

Oh and Gazoo…Rysdad must have made a mistake…around here the proper spelling is ViQueen.

I can’t believe I finally picked a 'Skins game right for the first time since, what was it? Week one?

Mazel tov, Gazoo! I was hoping this would be the week!

(Actually, I really wanted it to be the week the Skins beat the Eagles, but I digress.)

Bwaha!
Steelers win, and Rison gets a touchdown, and Janikowski gets an extra point and a field goal! And Tim Brown gets denied!

So far, everything is coming up roses for me today. I just need to make sure that Tim Brown gets shut out, and Janikowski doesn’t miss any field goa-
aw, CRAP.
That 50 yarder would have been worth extra points to me.
Teaches me to post while watching the game.

 for today.
GO LIONS!

Of course, as it turns out, Washington were the pathetic whimps you expect from high-priced mercenaries without any reason to play well, and then space aliens DID land in Seattle and give the Seahawks a two-point conversion that required three minutes of playing and application of a bad rule in the NFL. Oh, well, LNO, there is always next week…

Oh, and though right now I try not to say it out loud too often, I am a Bengals fan, as well as a Packer fan, both going back to the 60’s. As for the Bengals, too bad they don’t have the Ben-Gals play, it would be more fun to watch, except for Dillon. :o

Lions win??

LIONS WIN!!

Bengals Win??

BENGALS WIN!!

The Steelers very dim playoff hopes just got a tiny bit brighter. Now, I’m crossing my fingers for:

Indy to lose to Miami, starting now.

Pittsburgh beats San Diego next week.

Jets lose to Baltimore next week.

Indy loses to Vikes next week.

On paper, I like the looks of things. But I still could use some help from the football gods. pleasepleasepleaseplease…

sigh

In the immortal words of Denny Green…

“Defense? We don’t need no stinkin’ defense!”

I’ll email Sledman. He can return my new sig by return mail.

No I won’t, because he doesn’t have his email address listed.

I guess I’ll just have to keep checking the boards for my public humilition.

PACKERS!!! BENGALS!!! Oh, my God, both at once??

WAIT a minute, the damn Bengals are screwing up again! We want the first pick, we want the first pick!
That would be a really popular chant if the Bengals ever actually did anything decent with their draft picks… (sigh)

But … but but but … but … but but but but but …

There is no god.
