NFL Predictions - Week 12

Ended up 9-6 last week to avoid having to teach my fat dog new tricks. At 106-52 for the year, I actually gained a game on the best of my nemeses at the Sporting News. It looks like injuries will play a big factor in the games this week:

Cardinals 9 at Eagles 20 (When Michael Pittman is carrying your offense, you have no offense.)

Bills 16 at Chiefs 23 (Every once in a while there’s an anomaly in the NFL – Bengals beat Broncos, 49ers hold Chiefs to 7 points. I blame it on Grbac’s beard.)

Panthers 24 at Vikings 35 (I don’t even know what it’s at, but believe me, bet on the “over.”)

Bengals 10 at Patriots 24 (The answer: Scott Mitchell. The question: Who is the best left handed QB from Utah that is on the Bengals roster?)

Buccaneers 20 at Bears 17 (Why not? The Bucs gave up 15 to Green Bay in Tampa. The Bears are desperate.)

Browns 6 at Titans 30 (Someone is being taken out behind the woodshed…)

Lions 19 at Giants 20 (I have a really weird feeling that this game will be decided by a punt or kick return for a TD.)

Raiders 17 at Saints 13 (The Saints have signed Terry Allen for chrissakes!!! I bet they wish they still had Lamar Smith in the stable.)

Colts 27 at Packers 17 (You know winter’s coming when the colors start changing. No, not the leaves on the trees – the crowd at Lambeau. From green and gold to blaze orange.)

Chargers 10 at Broncos 24 (The ‘Bolts are waiting until next week to start their playoff charge.)

Jets 23 at Dolphins 24 (I’m telling you, everyone knows about the great defense, but it’s that no-name offense that will the ‘Phins at least to the AFC Championship game.)

Cowboys 13 at Ravens 23 (Yeah, Troy did alright last week. But it was against the Bungles. Aikman fans should tape this game. It could be his last.)

Falcons 21 at 49ers 17 (I know, my oddest pick. For some reason those are the ones I actually get right.)

Jaguars 14 at Steelers 10 (Maybe Cowher wouldn’t get so many apology letters from the NFL if his offense didn’t put the officials to sleep.)

Redskins 27 at Rams 31 (Eddie Murray. Eddie Murray!!?? I think Jan Stenerud is still alive. Try calling him.)

So there they are. I’m curious, is anyone actually using these picks in an office pool or something. If so, how are you doing in it?

Figures…

[homer] Mmm…frozen ponies…… [/homer]

The Frozen Tundra shall be defended against the infidel from the South. We are heavily armed this week so it is not a good time to be invading our turf.!!! Maneuvers will be conducted throughout our fair state. Know your passwords. All vehicles with Indiana tags and occupants of said vehicles will be dealt with accordingly. (Thrown in the large pit next to the FIBS)

I love you, Gazoo. What’s your pick for suicide pools? Yeah, I’m just trying to complicate things.

Any Cardinals fans out there who want a new sig written for them?

Okay, are there any Cardinals fans at all…?

These picks look good, Gazoo, although I wish you’d pick the Redskins again. I don’t use your picks, per se, but they do influence my confidence levels in the Pick 'em league we have over at Yahoo.

If by suicide pool you’re talking about a pool where you have to pick only one winner or one loser each week, I’d take the Titans to beat the Browns. Or the Browns to lose to the Titans.

Woohoo, Gazoo picked the Skins to lose. Now we’ll get a win.

Not that I doubted with the Rams suck ass defense.

Them’s fightin’ words Modian. Maybe you’ve missed Trent Green’s last few performances, the absence of Warner is not a factor. Ok, so we’re missing Marshall Faulk too - that is a factor, but we’ll still outscore the 'Skins. BTW, in case you hadn’t noticed, the defense actually played some downs last game. Little by little, I think Bud Carson’s making a difference. Plus I believe the game’s at the TransWorld Dome (I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong.) The 'Skins are going down.

Oh PLEASE, Crunchy.

Skins win it in a close game.

You poor, sad, misguided woman. Your blind devotion to such an obviously doomed team makes me want to weep. I would weep, if not for the unadulterated joy I will feel when the Rams shove that football sideways up some Redskin asses.

Care to make a little wager, Falcon?

Falc, not only are the Skins gonna lose, Az Hakim is going to score 3 TDs, one likely on a return. Gonna take the game right out of Stevie’s hands.

You knew I was coming didn’t you?

No Freakin Way!!!, nope aint happenin, fuhgetaboudid, get the dog to do the picks. Man does not live by running alone.

We wont loose another game this season. We’ve turned the corner. Yep it’s true! Believe it! Niners 8-8

Sorry Gazoo, but I think you misspelled “hapless.”

FTR, while I haven’t actually bet on football at all in the past few years, I have really enjoyed reading your predictions here, and the insight, as well as humor you’ve injected into each pick, week after week…it’s almost made my season of cheering for my Bears, well…bearable.

btw, who do pick in the Oregon/Oregon State game this Saturday? Seriously…no cracks about ducks and beavers…

BWAHAHahahaha! stuffinb, actually, the Niners really should win this one, I just have to pick some upsets and this one looked as good as any.

I always pick Beaver. Seriously, you think my NFL handicapping is bad? I wouldn’t even attempt to predict college games ever since the Badgers lost to Cincinnati last year.

Actually, Im just standing by me earlier predictions, nobody will be able say I wasn’t consistent  But seriously I think there’s only 1 unwinnable game left on our season. So I hoping momentum, will cary us through that game. Still with us having the #1 passer and being 3rd in rushing, plus the defense actually showing up for games recently (not counting last week) I have reason to think positively.

Hey stuffinb…is that a free agent running back leading that rushing attack??

Why?
Oh, no reason, no reason at all, just wondering! So how about them…(quick think of something or he’ll get suspicious) umm, err… how about that NL MVP? Yeah that’s it that Jeff Kent guy.

In your dreams, dear one. (sorry for not trash talking as much…I’ve had the week from HELL, so I’m kinda not in the mood. Still on that smoke break? Can I come?)

As for that wager…don’t think so. I’m a fan, but I’m not STUPID!

Well he will be at the end of this season. Hearst has been practicing for the last couple of weeks too. It’s probably going to make for a contentious issue come next training camp

So it might be reasonable to assume that a team that plays the West Coast Offense with an aging, injury prone running back might be interested in Garner during the offseason when they unload some large contracts to make salary cap room.

The Ten Commandments say nothing about coveting your neighbor’s Running Back…

Garner’s ok, but what the Pack ought to do is dump and trade a bit to clear enough cap room for one Corey Dillon. If he can get 1100 yards per season with the Bungles, think of how he’d do with a team that actually has some offensive talent!

Just my uneducated $0.02, I think if they activate Hearst, then that’ll indicate which way the niners are thinking (remember we’ve got two other promising backs too) however if they elect to keep him on IR, I think the Niners will start talking contract with Garner before the end of the season.

Hell they’d probably keep him just to keep him from the Pack, that’s all we need is one more reason to to be unjustifiably intimidated by them.
