NFL week #1 a rant

Hooray for the Titans! Now don’t fucking scare me like that again.

Oh yeah, Dallas? You did something no one else has done in forty years. Lost to an expansion team in their first game. And now the Titans are coming to town. See you on Sunday.

Yeah, I can’t wait to see how many times Kearse sacks Carter.

Oh wait…

Lemme just clear things up for stolichnaya & Myrr21, Yes I was rooting for both the Cowboys & the Eagles, why?

I grew up as a young foolish lad in NYC, who grew up watching football. One Christmas day I received one of those stupid vibrating football board games, you know spend a long time setting up the teams turn it on and they run around like a bunch of mini-vibrating chickens with their heads cut off. The teams on the game were the Cowboys and the Steelers, I got stuck playing the Cowboys due to the “Older brother factor”. This was also the time when the Cowboys & the Steelers were in every Super Bowl in the 70’s (it seemed like that to me) my bro would be rooting for the Steelers and I would be forced to root for the 'Boys. Don’t even bring up any NY team, they didn’t leave any impression on me.

After the 70’s football kinda faded from my life for a bit, then I went to college in…Philadelphia. Where I rediscoverd how great football was because you could waste a whole Sunday watching TV, drinking beer, eating pizza & people would think you were normal. I hated the fucking Eagles, for a long time, but if you go to a bar in Philly and root against the Eagles it is very bad for your health. If you root againts the Eagles when they are playing the Cowboys it is very good for your death. I still hated the bastards, but they started to grow on me, they became fun to watch, I learned to spell E-A-G-L-E-S over and over.

So I live in Philly, the Cowboys are great (unless they are playing a brand new team, if they have to play Notre Dame any time this year they are doomed) & I really enjoy watching the Eagles. I think I need therapy…

Ok Lee Flowers- Mr. Big Mouth, you can shut your big fat fucking mouth. You lost. Again. To the Pats. A rookie cleaned your clock on national TV. A friggin’ rookie. Your secondary gave up a ton of yards. Must have been too tired flappin’ your gums to cover.

Bettis you tired old fat hack. Stop making commercials and get ready for the game. I needed four lousy points from you to win- and you did shit. 2.5 points. You suck. Retire already- take washed up old Emmit (Mr. 1.7 yard per carry) Smith with you. Have some dignity, you are both meat.

Cordell Stewart. You are an embarassment and the #1 reason why the Steelers will always be a all smack, no-ring team.

Oh, and your coach has the girliest beard ever. Yeesh.

In a tough AFC, the Steelers, with a dumb Cordell, and slow, fat and easily tackled Bus, and a defense that spends more time talking and drawing defensive holding penalties then stops equals a team not destined to go very far.

The Pats looked pretty damn good though.

I, too, am PO’ed at the Cowboys. GET ANOTHER QUARTERBACK FOR PETE’S SAKE!!! And it’s not Rambo’s heart I want so much as Westbrook’s. Stupid shit kept interfering–allowed 14 points to score!! If I were Dave Campo, Westbrook would spend every practice from now till the next game running laps–nothing else! Then I might let him watch the next game from the sidelines. The big dumbass.

And no kidding about ESPN kissing Carr’s ass–it nearly made me sick!!

Hate to tell you this, but they’ll make the playoffs. Look at the AFC North – not a single team won this past weekend. The Bungles, Rudd’s Browns, and the Panther-meat Ravens?? Ick ugh nasty.

Dammit, I blew 3 picks out of a 6-pick parlay.

Missing 1 would have been bad enough.

Missing 2 would have been embarassing.

But missing 3! My children could have done as well with a dartboard!

gag. ack. barf.

shit.

I agree. That’s why their record may be better then the team. A bunch of patsy in division games, then getting their clock cleaned in the first round of the playoffs. They will make the playoffs, but will not go far in them. Unless the Browns edge them out- which could happen.

The Cowboys will suck
This season, just like the last.
I’m still a big fan.

I’m with you Pan. We just need to draft a better owner.

I agree. As much as I hate J.J., though, I can’t turn my back on the Cowboys–right now, they need me more than ever!

Right? Isn’t my fandom that important?

Nonetheless, the Texans are my new 2nd team and I hope that they do well this season. And maybe in ten, twenty, fifty, one thousand years from now my dream of an All-Texas Superbowl will come true!

Well, it’s been a day, and I’m still pissed off. But a few things I need to address Re: The Steelers can shut the fuck up now.

First of all, it’s Kordell, people! **K[/]or-frikkin’-dell! I don’t know why this pisses me off so much, and he certainly didn’t do anything worthy of correct spelling of his name last night, but it just does.

Next, to the “easy AFC” people, I’ll agree with you. We’re in an easy division. But you know what? We still played well last season. We didn’t squeak by the other teams in our division to make it to the playoffs. We steamrolled them. The out-of-division games? We still won 'em. And then in the playoffs we didn’t lose “in the first round.” We lost “in the last round.” Bit of a difference. So shut the fuck up. It’s not our fault we’re in a crappy division, and while it may have helped us, we’re far and away better than a lot of other teams out there. At least, we were until last night.

And Bettis isn’t washed up. He still pounded through on the plays where our pitiful-looking line actually opened up a good hole for him. Hell, even on the play where he fumbled (his first fumble in God-knows-how-long, by the way), he was about ten yards out, with four guys hanging onto him, and he was still going.

The Pats looked good last night. They already had my respect (yeah, I have to admit it), but they cemented it in that game. The Steelers played like crap, and deserved to lose. But that doesn’t mean they are crap. Hell, the Pats started last season at what, 1-3? Hope springs eternal, as far as I’m concerned.

What the fuck, Bucs!?!?!?

We go out and pick up great WR’s, TE’s, a new “offensive genius” for a head coach, so great, a potent offense, right?

WRONG!

The offensive line looked like a bunch of turnstiles. Brad Johnson was being harrassed more than a bimbo at a car dealers convention. PLEASE! Just give the guy TWO MORE SECONDS of protection and he’ll be able to connect on a pass. TWO MORE SECONDS!! Is that so much to ask?!?!?

I almost felt sorry for the poor bastard…almost.

GO SAINTS!!!

Sorry to break your rules, Briminator, but I can’t let this one go. It won’t take me very long to prove this statement false.

Ready?

Nate Newton.

Thank you.

At least Newton didn’t singlehandedly cost his team the game with an absolutely ridiculous penalty. Just smoked a ridiculous amount of pot.

No, he’s talking about Nate costing the Cowboys that game against the Dolphins when he gave Miami a second shot at a game winning field goal. This was about, what, 7 years ago?

I (as a big Dallas fan) was watching this with my grad school roommate (a huge Dolphins fan). What a turn of events that game was.

But still not as stupid as Rudd. At least Nate, in that pea brain of his, thought going after that ball was the correct thing to do, to prevent a Dolphin player from falling on it for a TD or something. Rudd just wanted to strut and bang on his chest like a bad-ass dude (look at me!)

Wasn’t that Leon Lett? The same chowerhead who got the ball knocked out of his hands by Don Beebe in the Superbowl while showboating toward an easy TD?

Jester- easy division, check. Cocky loudmouthed team, check. Beaten by the Pats, check. Much whiny, badmouthing of the P-men, chest-thumping garbage talk from the men of steel, check. Yet another loss to the P-men, check and mate.

BTW, I like the Bus, its just that he should have hung them up, just like Emmit Smith. Give Famous Amos the ball. Also Kordell will never be a great quarterback. Even Neil O’Donnel could get them to the Superbowl. Randle-El is the real deal though (if he stays healthy).

The worst part for the Bucs was the whiner who didn’t even dress for the game: Kenyatta Walker

He may be more stupid than Rudd.

:smack: Of course it was Leon Lett. I had repressed that awful memory so much that when it was yanked back into my frontal lobe I got all confoozed. Godd catch, elf6c. Glad you were on the ball because I sure wasn’t.
