In a shocking turn of events, the Chargers give up a kickoff return TD on the first play.
That was quite a surprising outcome, and very entertaining, though I almost feel sorry for the Steelers. Nothing worked today, they could have used a little bit of luck if nothing else.
SenorBeef is pissed! The “up and coming” Browns get beat by “the worst team in the NFL”, which is currently tied for first in the AFCN.
Fuck you, know-nothing national media, repeating memes while knowing zero about the team, especially YOU, Peter King, with your Cincinatti axe to grind. Fuck you all.
I told you that defense could play. Just wait until they gel!
Browns beaten by Grab-ass-kowski! hilarious.
Dude. They beat the Browns. The BROWNS.
The way they’re playing, I’d have thought Manning was missing from the defense and special teams, too.
Defense picked up somewhat, but that was a failure in all phases of the game and not just offense. Major coaching and individual failures all around. Even a rare Vinatieri miss from near guaranteed distance.
Everybody had a good idea the Colts would lose. I doubt anybody thought the team would collapse.
I’m also waiting until they play Baltimore (twice), Pittsburgh (twice), Houston, and Tennessee. You described it yourself: a team that loses to Gra[d]kowski isn’t very good. You started 2-1 last year. I know it’s really, really exciting to win on opening day, but let the season simmer awhile before hit up StubHub for tickets to Indianapolis.
Dude. Both of you. It’s the first game in the season. Yeah, fans lather up in their team’s respective butter.
Ugh… My Falcons did not look good today.
This just in: Steve Smith is still good. Nice first half from Cam Newton too.
I am pleasantly surprised myself, Southern Yankee. I was fearing a Tebow-style lack of adjustment to the NFL from Newton.
Encouraging first half from the Vikings against the Bolts. Percy take the opening kickoff to the house which is always a good way to start a season. McNabb was solid and moved the ball and scored points on drives.
The Purple defense has been good too. Good pass rush (nice to see they can put heat on the QB without the Williams Wall), and some good plays in the secondary. Hopefully they can keep it going in the second half against a good team.
Yep. He has a lot to learn, but he shows poise and his athletic ability helps him mitigate some of his mistakes.
Not nearly as good as Jason Avant though.
The Eagles managed a win in a game that was very close until the fourth. I wonder how much different it may have been if any of the Rams’ good players had stayed healthy, but I don’t know how much it would have mattered.
I’m just glad the Eagles’ o-line got it figured out and played really well after starting poorly. It’s going to be really important that the Eagles start quickly in games and force the opposing offense to pass. The Rams looked awful once the Eagles got the lead and could sit on the pass.
Rams played like shit and have taken the worst recieving corps in the NFL from last year and managed to get worse. Sadly, judging from the late afternoon games, they will still be the team to beat in the NFC West. Williams was a good pick up though. The running game should survive Steven Jackson being made of glass.
I am waiting to beat those teams too! How coincidental! The sorry ass Ratbirds rolled a confused and old Steeler team, and the Ravens are no great shakes themselves! WOOT!
Bring on overrated Flaccid and his sorry team of old defense. Bring on the Rapist and his old and overrated team too.
God I can’t wait for the national media to eat crow about the Bengals and quit repeating memes. They went from “playoff contender, maybe a Superbowl” to “worst in the NFL” over the course of one season.
I don’t think they are going to be great but this continual “they are the worst team…Andy Dalton will never succeed…they suck” is going to stick in their faces come midseason.
Oh, the Browns, I guess I forgot how “up and coming” they were, with this being Colt McCoy’s “coming our party” against a league-worst defense. A defense that kicked your and Hillis’ ass.
FU national media. You know shit.
Don’t feel you need to hold back. Share your true emotions with us.
Bengals still suck. Browns are just down there with you unfortunately
Will change title when I get to my pc
Panthers lost a close one to the Cards. They were more competitive than I thought they’d be, but the defense sucks pretty bad. Damn they can’t tackle for crap. Newton threw for over 400 yards with 2 TDs and a QB rating of 110.4, so not too bad for his first start. The offense is a lot more dynamic under Chudzinski than it’s been in a long time. It’ll be a long season, but I’m optimistic with Newton.
If by “not too bad” you mean “ridiculously fantastic,” then, yeah, Cam Newton’s performance was not too bad. 65% completions, 422 yards, 2 touchdowns, 110 QB rating…in his first game! It was only the Cardinals, but he destroyed them. He did throw one pick and another was called back due to a dubious penalty. Obviously he has a bit to learn, but he looks pretty damn good.
