NFL Week 11

I’m a Falcons fan, and was at the game yesterday. And that’s all I have to say about that.

Quite possibly due to an utterly pointless excessive celebration UC penalty.

At the sports bar yesterday the phrase “grimly nursing a lead” was used to describe the Falcons’ second half miseries. But they mostly did right up until they didn’t.

Caleb Williams overthrew his receivers yesterday, the ones he didn’t overthrow seemed to have a case of the dropsies left over from last week, the defense generally looks good until the 4th quarter, so I wonder if they’re tanking at the end of games so Caleb can get another comeback win. Their kicker has questionable leg strength. Caleb also continues to escape from pass rushers several times a game in a way that will make you wonder how he does it and if it is actually sustainable.

But the Bears are now in first place in the NFC North. This week at least.

I’m a Seattle fan and even I had to admire it as it happened. That may have been the finest punt I’ve ever witnessed. It was about as close to a perfect punt as you might ever see.

Is it legal per NFL rules to sit on the sidelines for the rest of the game? If so, Raiders would avoid injuries.

GO, BIRDS!

Las Vegas Faders

Remarkably after 10 games the Bears have only played one team (the 6-4 Lions) that currently has a winning record (which they lost). And their seven wins have come against teams with a combined record of 20-51-1.
However, 6 of their remaining 7 games come against teams that currently have winning records.

Week 12 thread

What do we take away from how horribly the Seahawks played just to lose by a missed field goal?

Seattle’s main problem was red zone inefficiency. If they were able to score TDs in their red zone trips they would have run away with the game. Even the turnovers wouldn’t have sunk them, as bad as they were.

But their defense was ridiculously good. The defense kept them in the game. Stafford was uncomfortable for much of the game, and the Rams struggled to convert third downs. Not because LA sucked, but because Seattle is that good.

And late in the game, that’s when Seattle started looking like the superb offense they’ve had most of the year, getting that TD drive to tighten the score to within 2 again, and then doing enough with what little time they had left to give them the barest chance to win with a ridiculously long field goal.

I chalk it up to two really good teams, among the best teams in the NFL this year, frustrating the crap out of each other for a game. And it ended with a 2 point difference in scoring.
