NFL Week 12 - Turkey Day

No.

They got 3 road games left. Maybe the Redskins if the weather gets dicey next week and the Saints let down after a short week. They have a sneaky good defense.

Maybe the Falcons in the Georgia Dome, if they get healthy and have a little in-division mojo.

Maybe the Panthers if they have one of those ridiculous running games they occasionally toss out there with John Fox on the verge of being fired.

Was it right for the Pats to pull the starters with about 5:00 left and down by 21?

I’d play it out.

Dallas? Dallsbarely matched up with the Redskins offense. THe Vikings, Cardinals and Packers are the strongest offensive teams in the NFC and I honestly don’t see any of them keeping up.

I was surprised at this, too. I would have liked to see Brady in at least one more series.

However, the Patriots hadn’t had any momentum going since the first quarter, so I guess Belichick decided that the game was a lost cause, and it wasn’t worth the chance of injury to Brady or Moss.

What a crappy game.

It’s looking like Indy and the Saints have a real shot at going undefeated.

And… if they win 2 playoff games at home, we’d see an undefeated superbowl.

Side benefit: All of the sports pundits and announcers heads would asplode.

And the 1972 Miami Dolphins could quietly put the champagne flutes away for ever.

Man, I had that matchup figured wrong. I had the Pats rated up near the top, so either they’re not that good or NO is just that much ahead of everybody.

The Pats’ defense got exposed, that’s all.

The Vikings have a defense.

Somehow I doubt it would be quiet. There would likely be a Mercury Morris rap song to herald the end of “the greatest team ever to play 17 games”.

Man, I did not expect that last night, just crazy explosive offense, and that was without Bush or Lance Moore playing.

I think the only team that could match the Saints decently would be the Vikings, and that is only if their line can get to Brees. I think the Saints can be run on regularly with a power game, but it is tough to commit to the run if you get down early. The Saints D thrives on making interceptions happen, and no one throws the killer interception like Favre.

What’s your point?

I don’t think so - it’s more a case of the Pats having an off night at the same exact time that the Saints fired on all cylinders. Several defenses which aren’t as good as the Pats’ have made Brees look ordinary this season.

Could be. I think that just the comparison of the Colts-Pats game against this one makes quite an impression.

It’s interesting to compare this to 2007 as well. The Giants beat the super-offense Pats; it might be that the best AFC team to go against the Saints if they make the SB would be someone like Denver, if they can get their defense playing like it was at the start of the year.

Just that the Saints aren’t as unstoppable as the Pats made them look, they were just playing against a mediocre defense. It might not happen until the NCF Championship Game, but I think they can be beaten.

When is that played?

January.

At the same time as the NFC Championship game?

I think it’s the first Sunday after the nitpicker’s bowl.

It all depends when New Years Day falls in that particular year.
