49ers (-6) @ Redskins
Some of these lines look a little wonky to me. I know the Bucs haven’t been any good, but they’ve won 2 in a row. I think 10 points is too high against the Lions.
Colts getting 1 from the Cardinals? I know it’s a road game, but that seems crazy.
Vikings getting 5 from the QB-less Packers? Seems more like a Pick-em to me.
The Colts haven’t been that good for the last two games, and Vegas doesn’t like Andrew Luck.
Mike & Mike had an interesting trivia question this morning: Manning and Brady have played each other 13 times, including playoffs. What pair of Super Bowl winning quarterbacks played each other more than 14 times?
At first I was thinking, “well, that sucks. Paid all this money to go to his first NFL game and he’s stuck with backup quarterbacks.” Then I realized the backups are better than the starters anyway. Have fun! Somewhat strangely, I’ve been to a game at Sun Life Stadium, and one at Alltel or whatever it’s called now (Miami and Jacksonville), but I’ve never seen my own Buccaneers play live.
The Steelers just aren’t very good, and Cleveland is at home, has a better defense and is coming off a bad loss to Cincinnati. And it’s an inter-divisonal game. And the line is only -1.5.
How many more points would you think the Chiefs should get at home? San Diego has a more talented (note I didn’t say “better”) offense than KC overall (better QB and WR/TE’s) and I don’t think the wise guys have been believing overly much in KC all season due to their schedule and the fact that they simply don’t score much. Their defense and a lack of turnovers have pretty much carried that team. Well…pretty good running game too.
First time watching the Falcons this year. They certainly don’t look like a typical 2-8 team. There’s some piss poor tackling and a clear lack of big play potential, but they’re sustaining drives, not turning the ball over, and playing smart. They’re not going to scare anyone though.
That’s the thing though, they are turning the ball over. They showed a stat during the game where I believe they stated the Falcons are 31st in the league in turnover differential (I believe they were at -11, and with the turnover tonight they’d be at -12). Also, I think this was one of their most effective games rushing the ball in quite a while, especially early in the game.
It’s clear they’re starting to benefit from the return of injured players but also an indicator the depth needed to sustain them or any team through a season and into the playoffs just isn’t there. Arthur Blank looked none too happy on the sidelines. While he’s a clear thinking, patient guy and has given recent assurances, that ain’t gonna last forever.
I wasn’t a fan of their giving up 5 draft picks to move up and grab Julio Jones in the 2011 NFL Draft. They were a Super Bowl contending team that was held back by poor defense, and they traded up to grab another offensive weapon. While Julio Jones is, without a doubt, a stud, it made very little sense to me as a way to win the Super Bowl. They now have little depth, a bad defense, and their window for a Super Bowl win is closing fast.
A win for Denver tomorrow and then again next week at Arrowhead and I don’t see any reason my Broncos can’t go into the playoffs as the top seed. We’ll see what actually happens of course, but I am starting to get pretty excited about this season!
