NFL Week 12

Incidentally (ironically?), I’m a Steelers hater and a Ben hater and I thought it wasn’t a fumble. I honestly wouldn’t have a strong opinion either way but the refs need to get their ducks in a row. Seems like it’d be really easy fix, just send out a league memo that declares that a player can or cannot control a ball with a part of the body other than the hands. Pick one, doesn’t matter which.

I was at an NFL game today, and a soccer match broke out.

If we’re talking about the same play—the one that also included defensive holding—I thought the only thing that saved Ben was a quick whistle.

We’re not, it was earlier in the game on a QB scramble and plunge for a first down.

Damn I wish the Chiefs had a quarterback. They are trying at least. But without even a reasonably decent Qb they aren’t going to win here, which really sucks.

Orton for the second half?

Boy, Bob Costas hit that one out of the ballpark, if I may mix a metaphor. Well said, Bob.

It’s rare that Costas’ sanctimonious tone and pollyannaish world view actually is apt, here it was mostly.

He’s inactive. It’s Ricky Stanzi.

Did you see that 15-yard run on 2nd and 26?

I didn’t realize that grabbing a defensive player in a headlock and throwing him aside constituted a legal block.

That was an ugly ending.

But a predictable one.

Classless move by Worilds at the end and a cowardly play by Bowe, just pathetic.

What did Worilds do?

Ran out of his way to get in Palko’s face after the pick and pat him on the head to mock him.

Yeah, that is dick.

I think every one of those guys should have to listen to Costas’ halftime spot this week. Too bad the coaches won’t put the kibosh on that stuff by putting them on the bench when they do stuff like that.

Not sure if anyone posted it already, but now Matt Leinart’s probably out for the season with a busted collarbone. Ouch!

I thought T.J. Yates would have been a pretty good pickup late in the draft. Now I’ll get to see.

You know, if there is a FSM that blesses Tim Tebow, the Texans must’ve murdered its father and raped its mother.

This was THE YEAR. Great defense, great RB tandem, better than average QB, and one of the best WRs in the game.

Even with lots of starters missing time (Foster, Schaub, and Andre Johnson playing only 8 snaps together, Mario Williams out for season, Danieal Manning missing a month), the team was winning. And now, the backup QB plays less than a half, and the team is scrambling to just limp to the playoffs.

Oh well. A couple more wins (very do-able against Indy and Carolina) should still do the trick.

Not to mention the rest of the division doing their best to implode completely.
