Could someone please tell me what the final number is? I think I get that the first number is the points given, so Titans are giving away 3 points to the Seahawks whereas the Cowboys are giving away 3 points to the Cards. (For betting purposes.)
The last number is the over/under line. You would bet the over if you thought the combined score of the game was going to be over that number. It’s a prediction (as much as betting lines are predictions) of how high scoring the game will be.
People betting their money is as good a measure as any. It often comes pretty close to the final score. But the over/under for that game was 39.5, and the Rams and 49ers blew that away.
Don’t know if it’s for all cable companies, but RCN is offering a free preview of NFL Red Zone this Sunday. Given the suckiness of the early Sunday game, this might be the best choice

Green Bay gets the Bungles at home, so there’s some hope for a bounceback week, with 8 starters either doubtful or questionable. If Bulaga and Nelson can both play, the offense should be able to keep up with whatever the Bengals can put on the board. I’m going to go ahead and say the Bengals will get their first touchdown of the season on Sunday, however.
My Bengals are a desperate team, which makes them dangerous. They’ve also owned Green Bay for quite awhile now. The Bengals are the most talented 0-2 team in the NFL right now. Far too talented to be as sucky as they’ve been so far this season.
I do fear for Tyler Eifert’s career though. He’s yet again got a back injury, and those things are trouble. And he just had surgery on it in the offseason. It’s doubtful he plays, and I don’t think you’ll see John Ross either. I want to see a dedication to the run game that focuses on just one RB for the most part (Mixon) and save Bernard for 3rd downs.
Also, please Andy Dalton, throw the ball to AJ Green like your life depended on it!
Kudos to Jags OC Nathaniel Hackett for putting together a great game plan (at lest for the first half). Easy throws in the middle of the field to avoid 3rd and longs and take pressure off the running game and a couple shots down field (one that got an imaginary pass interference call) have made it relatively easy on Bottles, which is what he needs.
It also helps that the Ravens offense is so putrid today. Maybe there is something to the whole Jags are used to London, home field advantage thing.
Because it’s an American game. Did they also play God Save the Queen? Playing both would be fairly normal. In the NHL, they’ll play both countries’ anthems if Canadian teams play American teams, no matter who is the host.
I think the idea of playing anthems at intra-national sporting events is very strange and silly. At the olympics or some sort of international competition like the World Cup? Sure. But why do Americans need to be reminded that we live in the US? Seems like jingoism; conspicuous and empty patriotism.
