NFL Week 3

That’s the thing - on paper, they look like they should be 2-0 or a really close 1-1. But they’re not. The offense looks inept. The defense isn’t exactly bringing down the house. When it comes to 0-2 teams that look better than their record, the Bears (WTF?) and the Saints look better than the Bengals. Even the Browns (double WTF?) come across as moderately competent.

As a fantasy owner of Mixon, I’ll be pissed if he gets a ton of points, because he’s sitting on my bench after the shitshow of last week.

Two wins in 8 years, one of them in Rodgers’ second game as a starter, does not a dynasty make.

On a note of the current game - Doug Marrone gives zero fucks. Up 37-0, 4th down? Fuck it, let’s fake it. Also, good job with the Streisand effect - yet again - President Fabulist.

Completely agree. And it appears that this jingoism has spread.

When i lived in Australia, i don’t think they ever played the anthem before rugby league and Australian rules games. It was played, i think, before the Grand Final (the championship game), but not regular season games. That appears to have changed, however, some time in the 16 years since i left the country.

Here’s a prop bet. Will Ross ever get another target after he fumbled his first pass in the NFL?

Ravens, LOL. Jax Jags made them look silly out there.

If they really want to get London interested in American football enough to impose a team on them, they’d better start trying harder for better games. Packers v Patriots maybe? Raiders v Chiefs? Maybe try flexing late-season games that have playoff implications.

LOL, maybe so. We’ll see.

Where in the world did that offensive output come from? It’s Blake Effing Bortles! So the Jacksonville Jaguars just pasted that Ravens defense to the tune of 44 points in London and the Bengals couldn’t score a single point against them AT HOME? What parallel universe is this?

I completely agree. I wonder how many English fans think the same thing. Speaking of anthems, the Steelers are staying in their locker room for the anthem in their game. And yet Kaepernick still doesn’t have a job.

The Bengals defense is ranked fifth in the league, and that’s without Burfict. They’ve given up 33 points in two games, and 6 of those were on a fluke play against the Texans. The problem is they’re on the field too long because the offense has been so bad. Speaking of which, them promoting Lazor and firing Zampese is a bigger move than people are aware of. The offense Zampese was running was overly complicated and unfocused. This is according to the players after the firing. I expect a vast improvement in production even with the limitations of their offensive line.

I also expect a heavy dose of Mixon as the feature back and I think he’ll have a big game against the Packers defense which is pretty bad. The Bengals do have significant injuries though, Ross and Eifert are out for this contest. AJ Green will have a huge game for sure.

Once he’s healthy again. His knee is injured, he’s out for this one.

The last time the national anthem got more coverage than the NFL game itself was during the Whitney Houston rendition during the first Gulf War.

At least the Bears are dominating the Steelers early on and almost exclusively relying on the run game.

Somehow CBS’ broadcast looks unusually amateurish today at the Browns/Colts game. Not sure what it is exactly. I think maybe the lighting in the dome stadium makes it look like a cheap high school production or something. Feels like I’m watching something super cheap. Not a big fan of the announcing team either.

I’d imagine, due to the two teams involved, they put the H- or I-level crew on that game.

I found a stream, and yeah it looks kinda creepy without any shadows or anything.

Oh, and another bullshit roughing the passer call.

Holy FUCK!!! Bears block a FG attempt, and run it back for…a fucking showboat move, Steelers player bats it out of his hand and he fumbles at the goal line! A god damn pro athlete that makes more money taking a shit than I do in a month fucks it up for his entire team!!!

Now, it is ruled that the Bears have the ball on the half yard line with one play to go, Naturally, the Bears fuck it up again with an illegal procedure. Let’s see if they miss the chip shot field goal now.

Maybe this is why they’ll never make me an NFL coach, but I’d send that player to the showers and home at half time. I would not tolerate showboating that costs my team points at all.

I think that the player (Marcus Cooper) is a starting defensive back for the Bears, as well. Which makes me wonder if he’ll get cut…if he were a backup, I wouldn’t be surprised at all, but I wonder if they’ll cut a starter.

Last year, I would have be pissed if he’d made the touchdown and then cost the team 15 years for a stupid celebration penalty. This was utterly inexcusable and he should be cut. I’d sit his ass on the bench and make him carry the Gatorade in the second half.

That is one helluva penalty!

I saw another, updated article and it mentioned something about playing GSTQ, so yeah I guess it’s just a jingoistic thing (great ). Thanks everyone!

The way the Refs are always in it for the Steelers is fucking ridiculous.

The Browns have been called for two pick plays (offensive pass interference) this year that never, ever get called. I’m a little baffled.

Don’t want to jinx it, but this Bears backfield is excellent.
