NFL Week 12

That was an amazing effort by Lance Louis at the end of that half. If we can just get something going in the passing game without turning it over again we’ll be able topull this one out. A win today would be HUGE.

Are you getting that utterly debilitating sickness in your stomach watching the Bears regress to recent form where the defense performs spectacularly only to be undermined by an offense led by a quarterback who plays like he has absolutely no clue what the hell is going on out there (and not getting much help from his teammates), where any victory will come only if the defense scores two touchdowns and Hestor runs back two kicks for a touchdown?

I am.

On the plus side, no fourth quarter meltdown for the Eagles.

I don’t get why the Bears aren’t running more. They currently are averaging over 5 yards a carry as a team (though some of that is through Hanie scrambles). Just run the ball more. Can someone who watches them every week let me know what gives here? Because this is not going to happen through the air from what I can see…

Eh, too soon for that. Hanie needs to settle in some and this pass rush by the Raiders is really good. All in all it’s a really bad matchup, but we’re hanging close. If your defense and special teams steal you 3 of 6 games when your backup QB is starting you’re probably doing OK. That said, Hanie REALLY needs to respond somewhat, those early picks made him gunshy.

That “holding” call on Spencer at the end of the last drive was bogus. Spencer rolled up the back of his legs and wasn’t even facing him, not sure how that can possibly be a hold. Didn’t matter, but I’m so sick of refs tossing the flag any time a pass rusher goes to the ground for any reason.

Most field goals made in a game: 8. We’re at 6 for Janikowski.

I think that’s at least the 3rd ball Jennings should have intercepted. Glad he’s stopping completions but at some point it’s got to be noted that he’s hurting us by dropping those.

ETA: I looked away and didn’t see it, but from the commentary it sounds like Bush’s TD was taken away by an equally stupid holding call simply because a pass rusher fell down. To be fair.

It’s a paradox:

Lovie and Martz are so worried that the passing game is going to put the Bears behind that they have to start passing to catch up.

Nah, the commentators were talking about how if the guy falls down it’s gonna be called, but whoever got called had his arms completely wrapped around him.

The Bears have 25 rushes on 50 total plays. They have perfect balance which has been a key to this offense being successful. There aren’t any issues with the play calling, Martz is doing a fine job. Hanie is just afraid to let the ball go and when he is throwing he’s doing it WAY late. The few times he unleashed he’s been way high making it even worse.

I’m wondering if Enderle is ready to play.

Wow, Lovie actually gets one right. No way he makes the right call if not for having 5 minutes to look at it.

Wow, what a pussy Knox is. Fight to come back, get the flag you wuss.

I know. I know. I just being pessimistic. Watching Hanie in the first half just evoked too many bad memories of the the last decade to allow me to think rationally.

Whew, Oakland being Oakland. Let’s capitalize on it.

Or not…

I’m a broken record on this topic lately, but it’s probably more on the WRs than on the QB. No one realizes how good Cutler was all year and how narrow the windows were because of these crappy WRs. Hanie doesn’t have the arm or the savvy to thread the needle with WRs who simply cannot get open and create any space. In years past the QB was like a jammed parking brake, now we fixed that and we’ve got no tires on the car. Hanie isn’t playing well, but Im not sure he’s got many options out there.

Oakland probably put it away with that drive. Fuck.

He’s going to do it again, isn’t he?

Fuck me that’s a good throw.

Nice. Back in it.

Keep us posted, we can’t see the rapture.

Rally time.
