Fuck it. It’s Tebow time. That’s the only thing I want from the rest of the season.
They usually wear their alternate jerseys on T-giving, but the NFL’s new rules on player safety/concussions state that there can be no alternate helmets (the Dallas throwback helmet is white with a blue star.) So they went with their cursed jerseys.
What about the trick shot guy? He’s backing up Weeden. Surely it cannot get worse from here on out.
Hello Bengals at 8-4. How YOU doing?
The end of the Giants and the Redskins game. What a major fuck-up in officiating. Not saying it would change the outcome but geez . . . how can they mess up like that?
On another note, you have to hand it to Caughlin. He hasn’t let the team quit.
It should be interesting. There may be a bit of limp snow for the game. The area has been quite blustery. I know one should not discount the adaptability of a warm weather, indoor team, but this looks to put the Saints at a distinct disadvantage, #12 notwithstanding.
So, Josh Gordon is at 1249 rushing yards after missing the first 2 weeks of the season with a suspension, which puts him at 124 yards per game, which is the best in the NFL, and only 50 yards in total behind #1 Calvin Johnson despite playing 2 fewer games.
And this is with no one at all throwing him the ball all year. He’s just running past everyone and catching long bombs for TDs, showing elusiveness and power on screens, and catching some passes over the middle too. He’s one of those athletes that’s so fluid that he doesn’t look like he’s really trying that hard as he blows past everyone else.
I’ve been pimping him for a while as one of the best young talents at WR. “Oh Beef, you pimp every Brown” you may be thinking but that’s not actually true, not at all. I never pimped Weeden or Richardson around here for example. I’m pretty accurate most of the time.
The scary thing is that I’m not even sure his heart is in it completely. He’s kind of dipshit, he doesn’t seem to be trying that hard (not sure how much of that is natural athleticism making it look easy, but he’s reputed to be a lazy practice player and not the first one in or last one out of the gym). I think he could be second only to Calvin Johnson if he really had his heart and head in the game. Maybe it’ll come together - maybe he’ll fail a drug test and get suspended for 2 years. It’s a fun lottery with him. What’s sort of amazing is that leading the NFL in receiving yards per game isn’t really what I’d consider “coming together” for his full potential.
SenorBeef, are you going to let SenorBeef talk to you like that?
I clarified that. I’m saying he doesn’t look like he’s running flat out because he’s such a fluid athlete, but he doesn’t seem like he’s trying that hard because he’s reported to dog it in practice, half-ass it in team meetings and the weight room, and just generally not put in the effort to be great.
It just sounded sort of contradictory to me. He’s so good that he doesn’t even look like he’s trying too hard; but he’s also not good, because you can see he’s not trying too hard.
I’d trade him tomorrow if I was running the Browns (assuming I didn’t shoot myself after waking up in Cleveland.) He’s already had one drug suspension, which means he’s one toke away from a yearlong ban. Your team is the Browns, which means you are way more than one player away from relevance. You got five picks from the Falcons for Julio Jones. Imagine what you could get for a guy who’s already produced at an elite level in the NFL.
There was a lot of talk about trading for him at the deadline. He’d have been a helluva number two behind Megatron, too. Supposedly he’s a huge headcase, though.
If there’s a team which is crying out for a Gordon trade, it’s the Panthers. Year after year they spend eleventy billion dollars on running backs and nothing on people for Newton to throw to. At a stroke they could remedy that with Gordon.
I don’t know much about Gordon, but Steve Smith wouldn’t happily give up Top Dog status, even if his production doesn’t justify it anymore. Would Gordon be happy as a #2 guy for year or two?
This seems like a BS argument to me. It’s not like there is only one starting WR, so you start both of them and let production speak for itself. Roddy White was the #1 in Atlanta before Julio came along, Hakeem Nicks was #1 before Victor Cruz, Greg Jennings before Jordy Nelson, etc etc etc. If you want to be #1, well, you’d better be #1. I can’t imagine a player stomping his feet because you hire a player who might be better than him.
Hell, it might even be better for Smith, because now the Hadens/Talibs/Revis’s are covering someone else instead.
It’s not an argument. It’s a question. The Panthers definitely need a young WR to take over as the #1 guy. I’m saying Steve Smith is not going to just let Gordon waltz in and be the #1 guy. You may have heard that Smitty isn’t always the best teammate… My question was whether Gordon could handle that. I’ve heard he’s a bit of a headcase but I don’t really know much about him.
Smith told Mike & Mike last week that he’s not really a #1 at this point in his career, so I imagine he’d be happy to stop seeing double coverage on every play.
