NFL Week 13

Were the Rams wearing one of those “Retro” uniforms today or are they finally getting rid of those godawful dirty blue and tarnished bronze unis they adopted several years ago? It was great to see the beautiful old LA Rams colors!

Hey, if you guys move back to LA leave those outfits behind, okay?

It is a proud and lonely thing to be a Browns fan, SenorBeef. As much as I want to turn away, I just keep hoping that the second coming of Sipe and those 1980-1990 teams are just around the corner…

It’s time for the Browns to start Manziel and keep him out there barring injury. Pettine isn’t running a Pop Warner team. I don’t care if Manziel had a few drinks or if he got it on with the nurses at his ‘rehab.’ He’s got at least some value as trade bait if the Browns have already decided to move on. There’s no guarantee that Josh Gordon won’t screw up again, but if Gordon stays out of trouble then you’ll have a world class receiver to complement Manziel if he sticks around.

Manziel is a professional, and an adult. If he wants to live a North Dallas Forty existence and can successfully pull it off, then bully for him. If he can’t pull it off, then he won’t have a career. Either way, stop mothering him.

To be honest, Austin Davis didn’t play so terribly. Have you seen the rest of the Browns’ roster? Their receivers? Their RBs? The guys who do have any kind of talent on the O line are just phoning it in by now.

Pettine is toast and he knows it. I’d love to hear him asked, “Do you regret taking this job?” Because he 100% does. And if they do fire him, like everyone expects, who in the hell could they possibly hire?

There’s no salary cap on coaching, so I’m hoping Haslam has the sense to be the first guy to offer eleventy billion dollars to the top candidate.

Of course Holmgren was paid big money to turn the franchise around as team president and he drove a little golf cart around for 20 minutes a day.

I know jack-shit about the Browns, but Pettine has had an insanely destructive attitude towards Manziel all season. Was he involved in Manziel’s drafting? If so, he should not just be fired, but sued for the millions of dollars of damage he did to the Browns franchise.

The big name I’ve heard rumored is Urban Meyer and there ain’t no chance he considers coming to Cleveland. Even if they’re willing to back up the Brinks truck, who would take it? I’m quite confident Gruden won’t coach again, he’s happy in the ESPN booth.

Actually, Pettine never really wanted Johnny and seems to have a very strong personal dislike for him. He certainly was not a decision maker in that draft, which has led to that destructive attitude. And now that he all but knows he’s toast, there is no real incentive to play Manziel.

Johnny has, in fact, been named the starter for the rest of the season. Reports are already speculating about Pettine’s input on that decision.

I think that’s the right call for the Browns organization. Worst case is he can’t develop and the organization moves on.

And I guess his draft not being Pettine’s call is good. It’s one thing for a head coach to undermine his organization’s first-round draft pick QB. It’s quite another to undermine his own first-round draft pick QB!

…and Manziel’s being named the starter will likely play into Beef’s theory about the Browns once again screwing themselves in the upcoming draft with just one win too many to snag a top pick. Perhaps this is a decision to increase what they’re going to get from Jerry Jones or whatever but damn, Davis didn’t play badly all things considered.

Speaking of Manziel, RGIII. 2

Time to change the subject.
Go Skins!

Last time I posted that here ( 2 years ago) they self imploded.

Fuckin Redskins.

But there’s also the argument that given their remaining schedule, are their upcoming games, especially the last three, a fair test?

The Rams fired their offensive coordinator today.

Yeah, that’ll fix everything.

What. The. Hell. Was DeSean Jackson doing with that punt? I thought that was going to be a safety.

More and more I really believe it’s players not plays. Dropped passes, missed blocks and poor route running are not the fault of the OC.

Woo hoo! Cowboys only a game out of first in the NFC East! Super Bowl bound baby!

Strike that, Pettine won’t confirm if Johnny will be the starter. So, the struggle between him and ownership continues. Like I said, he knows he’s toast. Might as well burn this bridge to the ground.

Dude retreated from the 25 yard line back to damn near his own end zone! Never seen anything like it. And fumbled the ball, to boot!

And in other news, the Hawks put on a clinic. Maybe the Vikings were a touch overrated?

See you in 2017…

Not really, I think everyone knew that Minnesota had a relatively cupcake schedule for the first half of the season, and then the difficulty got turned up to expert in the second half. We’ll see if they can keep up the wins, but I think they will regress to the mean shortly. They built a really good start, though, so ending with 11 or 12 wins is still going to work out pretty well.
