Answer: because we didn’t set an NFL record for receptions. Brandon Marshall did. Nobody else on your roster is worth a damn, or at least Kyle Orton doesn’t seem to think so.
On the other hand, Marshall + Moreno are pretty effective all by themselves.
No. He was actually pretty good in college. The problem was that we drafted him to return punts and kicks and to work in the catching passes stuff later on… and he can’t return punts or kicks.
Quite literally the worst returner I’ve ever seen. It wasn’t even like he was Devin Hester - issues with ball security, but able to make amazing plays when he could hang onto the ball - he couldn’t hang on to the ball and when he did he tended to lose yardage on punts and get tackled inside the 20 on kickoffs.
He’d just stand there for a second, as though he’d forgotten to make sure there were only 11 men on the field and figured he should do it now.
Sounds a lot like Keiwan Ratliff was for the Bengals. Especially on punt returns. Like a deer in headlights, dance to the left, dance to the right, tackled for negative yardage.
First off, I’m assuming you mean that Kyle Orton doesn’t believe anyone on our receiving roster is worth a damn, though that isn’t completely true. Sure, he generally favors Marshall as much as any decent qb would favor a 6’5" 230lb target who could catch a fly with a pair of chopsticks, but all things considered, he’s been reasonably generous with the ball. Royal, Gaffney, Stokley and Scheffler all get their chances, but they’re smaller targets and Orton isn’t accurate enough to always put it in a place they can reach.
Also, I think Correll Buckhalter going down was a bigger loss than it appeared. Moreno is a stud, but he’s not an effective every down back, at least, not yet.
Yes, yes he did. Appropriately, he took advantage of the most glaring mismatch in the Colt’s banged-up secondary. But that’s a far cry from him not believing in any other receivers. However, I will concede that his favoritism did lead to an Indy pick in the end zone.
Hey, nobody said he was a top-10 qb.
However, at this point in the season, I still can’t say I’m missing Cutler much. It’s really too bad, his tremendous potential is only exceeded by his horrendous attitude.
Wow – I’m happy the Cards scored, but the Niners got seriously ripped off there. That was one of the most grievous no-calls for delay of game I’ve ever seen.
I’ve sat through some horrible Cards game, but this is one of the worst I’ve seen in a long time. I guess they forgot they’re supposed to lose ugly games AFTER they’ve clinched a playoff spot.
Much as I love my Packers, I hate to say that I think this year’s NFC Championship game will be Minnesota at New Orleans. The others just aren’t consistent enough. Case in point last night.
The San Francisco 49ers, where ex-Bengals go to…thrive?
Ahmad Brooks was rejected by the old regime of defensive coaches, considered too dumb to play MLB in Bresnahan’s scheme. Ah, what Zimmer could do with Brooks now…
Weird. Its like there’s the Saints, Colts, Vikings, maybe Chargers and then…everyone else. What a muddle the “second tier” teams are right now. So up and down.
Green Bay is making a pretty strong run at the end here. I have a feeling they might get kneecapped by the Steelers, but they still look like the best bet for the top WC spot, which means they’d probably go to Arizona or Philly in the first round. If they make it to another week, they would then go get road graded in the Metrodome again.
