NFL Week 14

Starting our weekly discussion so it kicks off.

Ken Dorsey is about to make a 4th quarter comeback over the Titans scoring 3 passing TDs and pancaking Albert Haynesworth on a rushing TD just to rub it in.

After this week is done, we can say the words, “The playoff bound Arizona Cardinals!”

Goddamn mother fucking Packers.

Just when I think they can’t find new ways to break my heart, this time they go from what I thought was an impressive, heartfelt win to a catastrophic loss within’ 5 minutes. With the game tied, they showed great heart and gumption by driving from their own 16 to the Texans 22 with 3 minutes left in the game. All they fucking had to fucking do was run some fucking clock and fucking kick the fucking field goal for the fucking win. But did that happen?

No fucking way. A 9 yard run is nullified by a holding penalty on our backup RT (costly injuries again). Then a fucking sack takes us out of field goal range. And then a piss poor 3 yard gain that leaves us no choice but to punt.

But, by some miracle, our brand spanking new punter does something great and pins the Texans on their own 3 yard line with 1:49 left on the clock. Content to run the clock, they call a running play, so the Packers use their time out.

Then it all falls apart. A screen to the fullback goes for 22 yards, another dump off goes for another 17, another pass for 27, and the Texans kick the winning field goal with no time left.

Fuck you, Packers defense. Collapsing like this for the third straight game is inexcusable.

Fuckity, fuckity, fuck fuck fuck.

Eagles over the Giants at the Meadowlands! Westbrook is a beast.

I’ll be at the Monday night game this week. It’s a huge match up for supremacy in the NFC South. The Bucs spanked the Panthers earlier in the year at Tampa and another loss tomorrow will make it nearly impossible for the Panthers to win the division. This may be the biggest regular season game in Panthers history. It’s going to be down in the low 30s according to the Weather Channel. I’ve got the long johns and my flask ready…

You know the Lions will beat Green Bay the last game of the season 'don’t you?

Is it just me or does the steeler’s O-line need a lot of work?

Yippie yahoo! Cardnials are in the playoffs.
Osip

Not nearly “just you”. We all know that. Ben’s compensated for his bunch of interceptions by taking the tackles instead. Thing is, I can’t tell exactly why they suck so hard. Ah well, the D is a solid steel curtain this year…and it’s been good enough for 10 wins so far. One more should do it. I’m calling the next three weeks at 0-0-1. I dunno about next week, so maybe it’s 1-0-1. Either way, it’s Super Bowl time.

Yay, the Broncos didn’t choke again! If they keep this up, they can have a very respectable 11-5 record going into the playoffs.

I hate you all. I hate football.

Fuckin’ Lions. Well, at least we can raise the bar for sucking.

Yup.

Writing more will just make me angry.

What pisses me off more is that they should be better than that. I’ve been defending TT and this team all year, and then, when the chips are down, they just stink up the joint. Granted losing Barnett, Jenkins, and KGB hasn’t helped, but dammit the defense was supposed to be our strength this year. Grrrrrrrr.

And Chillar, Collins, Tauscher. We have no running game, our O-line can’t stop getting penalties our special teams is laughable (improving with this game though).

Fuck it, it’s all about the draft picks now.

Well, my only consolation is that once Old Ralph kicks it, his kids may TRY to move the team to Toronto, but nobody there is going to want it.

I was rooting for them yesterday.

At least you’ll get good draft picks.

(I don’t hate you.)

The only problem is that I’m quickly losing confidence in TT’s drafting in the first round. While I said at the time (and I’m glad I seem to be proven right) that Rodgers was a fantastic pick at 24, but since then, it looks like our first rounders are not what I would like. Hawk isn’t the 5th best player and hasn’t been a stud and Harrell has the smell of a bust. So getting a higher draft pick isn’t much of a consolation.

Of course, looking at it rationally, it’s still too early to tell. I, for one, did not see the decline in Clifton and Tauscher’s play, the lack of emergence by any of the youngsters on the O Line, the continued injury and suckitude of Harrell, and the lack of playmaking ability by the linebackers coming. Injuries did really hurt this team, and I still have faith in TT and McCarthy, but damn it is frustrating watching a team simply fall apart on defense, especially when they win the turnover battle.

To sum up (and repeat myself) fuckity, fuckity, fuck fuck fuck.

I’m not happy about this game at all, as a Bucs fan. If we win, we’re basically holding serve… but if we lose, we’re fucked. Or at least fucked-ish. I’m not at all convinced that Delhomme will get it together before season’s end, so maybe the Saints will knock you guys off.

Plus, we did spank you earlier in the season, which was pretty gratifying.

I think the weather actually helps us more than you; we’re a hot-weather team, but so are you, and we already can’t throw deep.

Hawk has been banged up, IIRC, and he was a very, very safe pick. He’ll make a Pro Bowl or two, and be a good player for a very long time.

As far as the weather goes, playing in Green Bay last week should help us a little. Steve Smith went to Utah and isn’t really affected by the cold. Delhomme, on the other hand, seems affected by everything lately. He needs to step up tonight for the Panthers to win.

I’m way too excited for a guy who’s going to spend 5 hours (including tailgating) in the freezing cold watching a game I think we only have a 40% chance of winning…

Heh. I passed on a chance to go to the game here in Baltimore last night (well, I didn’t vigorously pursue a possible opportunity), and frankly I’m just as glad I did. Brrrrr!

The game was great, though, especially in a warm chair with a pint of beer and a plate of chicken wings in front of me.

Pansy.
