NFL Week 14

Wow.

I hate the rule that makes the station go to the late game when the early game isn’t finished. They should be able to make that call on the fly if the game is tight.

For some reason, I can’t get an accurate update on the Miami/Pitt game. Every site i checked is messed up with the time and/or the score. WTF?

24-28. 14:57 in the fourth quarter.

Ok, sorry, NFL says “PLEASE NOTE: We are currently experiencing technical difficulties with the data feed for this game.” So never mind.

Thanks. At least I know I’m not crazy.

Looks like Miami won 34-28.

SenorBeef, you still with us?

A google search shows the Steelers lost, 34-28. Any website depending on the data feed is hung up at the start of the 4th quarter.

It was a crazy ending Pittsburgh almost won with one of those multiple lateral plays but the last guy barely stepped out of bounds right before he got to the end zone.

Browns got hosed so hard. They should just start adding the “long bombs thrown to draw a cheap PI call” to Brady’s passing yardage stat, he gets it every game.

Well it wasn’t the only thing that went wrong, but the refs gifted the game to the pats.

Matt Prater hit a 64 yard FG. In Denver. It’s a record. Thoughts?

I think it’s a record.

Breaks Tom Dempsey’s record of 63 yards, set in 1970 (43 years ago!). Not many records have lasted that long.

Well, it’s longer than I can kick it.

A number of guys have tied Dempsey. Elam did, I remember. I guess my question was if anyone thinks it was altitude-aided and if that makes a difference to them. I don’t care if it was. Still pretty damn impressive.

Elam, Janikowski & Akers all hit 63-yard FGs. The first two did it in Denver.

High altitude certainly helps: Denver air density is about 85% of its value at sea level, which is probably worth at least several yards of extra range on a long kick.

But 64 is now the record.

Well, Football Outsiders has four different categories of stadiums for the purposes of rating special teams: warm, cold, dome, and Denver. And that’s now 3 of the 4 longest FGs in history that were kicked there.

I guess if it is the end of the first half, might just as well, wth not? May be a slightly better gamble than Manning trying to hit 6. Hopefully, they watched Alabama-Auburn and had the players ready to handle a possible runback.

now we are back to good old fashioned carolina panthers football
