NFL Week 15

Flynn really didn’t play that badly, although they didn’t really ask him to do that much. I thought the Packers’ offensive line is really what really kept them in the game. They protected and moved the line of scrimmage.

Well, he certainly had the second-best quarterback on the field today.

You’ve got to be kidding me. You really think Matt Flynn is better than Tom Bady? I know Packer fans are deluded but…

We’ll forgive this ridiculous rant as just the frothy vocal diarrhea of an embarrassed Giants fan in the aftermath of their sixth straight loss to the Good Guys. You all would never do something so vile as root for someone on your team with past troubles with the law, right? So do you want to renounce LT and swear him off from your franchise and burn your LT jersey, or recant?

Almost all Eagles fans I know had mixed feelings about Vick, and generally they were the feelings I had when the Eagles signed him. What he did was awful, but he did his time, paid the price, and he looked honestly contrite. If he didn’t embarrass the franchise, we’d support him. And he hasn’t. I still won’t buy his jersey, but I don’t see a problem with others doing so in this case.

He didn’t say that (and, c’mon). Flynn generally outplayed Brady in that game.

Just a reminder, you’re talking to Dio.

Matt Flynn did not outplay Tom Brady. That is delusional.

And Tom Brady would not have stood around with his thumb up his ass waiting for that 4th down call.

Flynn: 24-37, 251 yds, 3 TDs, 1 int
Brady: 15-24, 163 yds, 2 TD

Objectively I’d say Flynn had a better game. He had problems getting a play off in the last minute, but I blame the coaches for not having the call ready for him.

Naturally I’d still want Brady playing for my team next week (which fortunately, he is).

The only metric that matters is the final score.

Again. Dio.

By that logic:

  • Jon Kitna is better than Tony Romo
  • Mark Sanchez is better than Brett Favre, Philip Rivers, Peyton Manning and Matt Schaub

Winning is, of course, the ultimate goal of the team… but citing the final score as the only important metric when comparing the performances of two individual QBs is ridiculous.

Di. O.

Yeah, I’m a troll for saying that Tom Brady is better than Matt Flynn.

I don’t think you’re purposely being a troll, I just think you’re like pathologically hard headed, but people are trying to point out that you can make a case that Flynn outperformed Brady in just one game, and you’re coming up with silly criteria to ignore that point.

Incidentally, I haven’t seen the full game, but I doubt that’s true. Stats don’t necesarily indicate the better QB play, but then neither does the final score.

Nobody is saying that Tom Brady is not a better quarterback than Matt Flynn. We are stating the obvious fact that Flyn had a better game than Brady did yesteray.

By your logic, Colt McCoy is a better quarterback than Tom Brady.

And he is!

Also, Doug Williams: clearly a better quarterback than John Elway. (Phil Simms too, for that matter.)

I’m pretty sure you want yard-pounds rather than yards per pound, otherwise I’m certain that there is a smaller punt returner that has a better yards per pound statistic.

Apart from this Brady/Flynn nonsense, the real story of that game was how poorly the NE defense played (again). They really regressed last night. For the past few games, it felt like there was some real improvement and my hopes were rising, but aside from a few big plays, on the whole they looked like chumps against a back-up QB making his first start and a back-up running back. At home. At this moment, it is clear that the Pats do not have a championship caliber defense. They definitely have some injuries that limited the rotation of defensive lineman, so I am hoping that that’s all it is, but I don’t think so. They are terrible on 3rd down!
