Make that “the Broncos defense gave up 30 points”. 14 points came off of interceptions.
He’s a douche of the highest order, but apparently so is Marshall. I still am unclear on exactly why Scheffler got caught up in this though, any history there?
I caught a clip of Chris Mortenson on SportsCenter this morning. I’m going to paraphrase him, as I cannot find the video clip online. He basically said that veteran players had gone to McDaniels and asked him to demand accountability from everyone this week, presumably because they felt that some players half-assed it prepping for the final game of last season, where they also lost and got knocked out of the playoffs. After that, Marshall claimed a hamstring injury that may or may not have actually been injured, then showed up late for a treatment session on the supposedly injured hamstring. So, according to Mortenson, that’s why McDaniels benched him. He said nothing about Scheffler.
Hey, don’t dismiss how cold it can get in San Diego. I was at the game yesterday - and sure, it started at a balmy 72 degrees, but by the end of the game it had dropped all the way to a frigid 67.
Just saying.
Even worse than that, at least to me, is how MLB teams out of contention trade away their stars to save money. Imagine a similar situation in the NFL. Around week 12 the Browns trade Joe Thomas to the Patriots, the Redskins trade Albert Haynesworth to the Saints, etc… I don’t know how baseball fans can stomach it.
I recall it happening twice in MLB in the last three or four years, where a team out of it / already clinched played their bench while the team they faced was in a tight race with someone else. I only remember because of the endless discussion on Mike & Mike both times.
